Any new sounds for GTR?

Is there any new sounds floating around for GTR? I know somepeople think it
sounds great, but on my system it sounds like its playing thru some POS
speakers. Makes me think of the old Kraco speakers I had in my monza just
out of high school. lol  Another option is there any file tweaks. I have a
Santa Cruz soundcard and it sounds good on everything else including f12002

Thanks

No, it's not your system.  All of the internal engine sounds in the
mod had the gain cranked without any sort of compression applied which
is why there's that ***, cheap sounding digital distortion/clipping.

To make the game playable, I ended up setting the opponent's engine
volume to about 50% and the in-car engine volume to about 65%, if I
remember correctly.

The N-GT cars are the most offensive (details in Jason's post).

I solved the problem by overwriting the internal sounds for those two cars
with their external ones (so now internal and external are the same, but
with two different sets of names.  It's the POR996 and F360 files you want
to look at.  Problem solved--cars sound great.  Unplayable on a high-end
audio rig with the original purposely distorted sounds.

And just how did you do this? Enquiring minds want to know.

For me it seems to get worse with more cars around so I'm not sure that
using the external sounds for the inside would work, but I'm willing to give
it a shot.  I hate to say it but SCGT sounds better.

copy the interior sound files to a safe folder.  Rename them to match the
exterior sounds file names,  copy them back to the sounds/cars folder and
overwrite the exterior sounds...done.

I'm using the F360 sounds from the FIAGT V3 mod - sounds much cleaner but I
think it sounds a bit like it's revving too hard at redline.

I always thought the F1 2k1 mods sounds took a-lot of tweeking before they
would work in GTR.  I was always partial to the Fia V2 Vipersounds.  Is
there a simple way to include them?

Very simple.  Take a look in the sounds folder and I'm sure you'll figure it
out.

Well I had the Kraco cranker in mine. lol  AM/FM/Auto stop cassette and
speakers for one low price of $39.99. Then I added a set of Sparcomatic loud
and clears to the rear deck. whoo hoo!

Isn't that the opposite of what he suggested?

YIKES!  what the heck is going on....???  Goofball dave screws it up
again.  Copy the EXTERIOR sounds...the OUTSIDE sounds and rename them to
overwrite the INTERIOR sounds.  Good catch Jason.  I gotta get over dis
cold...
