VROC Problemo

by slikn.. » Sat, 19 Dec 1998 04:00:00

here's my problem:
When I try to join the races there, it says Error: Address Book Backup
Exists!   I don't know what to do, since I tried rebooting and deleting
everything from the GPL address book, but nothing seems to work.
Anybody know what the problem is???
  Thanks in advance

VROC creates a backup of your own address book, before creating a new one
with the VROC entry.
On completion it puts your backup file back as the address.ini file

If your system crashes or similar & VROC cannot rename the file , the backup
will remain, hence the error.

You need to delete this file.

I can't remember the name but I believe it should be easy to find in your
GPL folder.

Cheers

the trouble shooting section or help

The "Help" link on the VROC site explains what to do!

When racing GPL on-line vroc (or gpl?) creates a temp file of the IP
addresses in the GPL directory, and if you don't disconnect from GPL
properly (eg:- if your pc crashes) the next time you try to race
on-line you get an address book error.

I eventually found a help file on vroc which explained this, and it
tells you to delete or rename the appropriate file, and all is well
again. you should have an "address.ini" and also an "address.vro"
file in your gpl directory. You need to delete the address.vro file
(but if you want to keep the ip address(s) it contains, rename it to
something else or copy if somewhere else so you can add the ip
address to your address.ini file)

Go to your GPL directory,
delete address.ini
rename address.vro to address.ini

That's it
