F1 Manager shocker!!!

Did anyone buy EA Sports F1 Manager? What an absolute rip-off! The damn
thing crashes all the time.

I try and negotiate better electronics and instead of offering a new season
contract it advises them that I'm cancelling next years contract! What's up
with that, I haven't even appointed them yet!

Is there a patch out?? Does anyone else have issues? Did anyone persevere
with the game! Thank god I only payed $15! But that's $15 too much!

maybe next time I should put my message through the andrew.cole1 (if that's
your real name :-) ) filter just in case he's not interested!

and maybe I should also put in my message that I'd appreciate no one liners
from folks that offer no value at all and just feel they need to contribute.

Well I'm interested!  But not surprised, as the last versions (when it was
called Grand Prix Manager) were ***too.  This looks like another graphics
update.

Great concept, shitty execution, too small an audience for anybody else to
build a better one.  After all how many people want to mix F1 racing and
Risk in the same game?

Actually I think he was talking about F1 manager 2000, which was put out by EA.
The Gand Prix Manager games were put out by MicroProse.

I was hoping that F1 Manager 2000 would be decent, but it sounds like it's got
too many flaws, so I never bought it.  I did however, buy Grandprix World,
which is the latest in the Grand Prix Manager series.  And to be honest, I
think that Grandprix World is a pretty good game.

I managed to turn Benetton around in my second season, and won the drivers, and
constructors titles in my third, with Coulthard, and Wurz as my drivers.  Oh
yeah, I managed to get a contract for the Mercedes engines too....That may have
had something to do with it  : )

Sounds like I shoulda bought GPW. F1 Manager has an excellent racing view,
but too many bugs and by the looks of it no patch for those frustrating
crashes to windows.

I had looked at all of the previews for F1 Manager 2000, and I was getting my
hopes up for it.  But I never picked it up, due to all of the complaints about
it.  It's really too bad we keep getting half assed attempts at  F1 management
sims.

BTW:  One of the best all time management games in my opinion, is Grand Prix
Wizard....If you've never tried it, do a web search and check it out.  It's a
few years old, and is a dos based game, but it's rock solid.  Graphics are
pretty cheesey though.

Cheers I'll look out for GP wizard, although it might be too much of a
culture shock!

Is there anything new GP manager wise on the horizon? If not I may have to
get out GP Manager 2 - electronics bug and all!

I haven't heard of anything, but I'm always holding out hope.  If you don't
have it already, see if you can get your hands on Grand Prix World.  I think
that it's the best in the series.

Somehow I must have missed out on GPW...  Did it come out in the
States, and if so, when?

No it's not being marketed this side of the Atlantic.  OK, the market for F1
strategy sims's not big over here but how much would it cost to ship a
couple of cases to a couple of Etailers that ship to Canada & the US..??

You're right I was thinking about GPM/GPW

So you don't have to micro manage wing settings any more?  and there's some
cause/effect to what you do set?  Cars don't go from 3 laps down to win the
race?

No, you didn't miss it.  It was never released in the states.  I ordered my
copy online from a reatiler in the U.K.
