Ok I can now use bi-linear filtering in the game. Maybe I am not looking
hard enough but I cannot see any visible difference - it feels and plays
the same. What is it supposed to do??

That's my experience too. Don't really like it.

The ground also gets 'more blurry' which makes it look a lot better,
instead of being squares of different shades of grey, or green or
yellowish, they merge together to give a nicer effect.
