Check out the shameless Nascar Revolution press release at
http://www.racesimcentral.net/ .  In the article they say Dale Jr. uses it to
learn the tracks when even Dale Jr. himself has said he uses Nascar 2 to
learn tracks.

HAHAHAHAHAH, to LEARN a track.  I guess those nascar guys dont know which
way the turns go huh.  You can only learn a tracks direction and maybe a
little bit of speed in a game, your not gonna learn much about an oval from
a game except which way it goes and how big the turns are.  Which really
isnt training.  Oh well it just cracks me up here, sorry.

What a stupid post.  I hope you didn't spend too much of your intellectual time
dreaming  up those comments.  I sure wasted my time reading them since they
contributed absolutely nothing. Paul

yes watglen and sears point you can learn the turns.  I can see that, but I
hate how they make the game sound like some miracle learner.  Oh well.

Sorry to come out so harshly.  It did have some points though on my thoughts
about the topic.  Just everyone here is a roundy nascar arcade fan so i cant
win.  Sorry for upsetting anyone and invoking rude comments.

Watkins Glen. Said it actually accelerated his learning the course.

Which is why most everyone here has and loves Grand Prix Legends.  Yep,
roundy nascar arcade game that is.

And, as I've had to point out time again, every NASCAR track, even the
ovals, is a lot different than another.  Like, Atlanta, C***te, and
Texas, all look 99% the same, but all drive MUCH different.  In real life
AND N2/NR99.

If you don't like NASCAR, leave those of us who do alone, ok?  Thanks.

i dont mind it, just saying that this nascar revolution doesnt sound like a
very hot sim at all.  When it takes skill to drive on an oval then I will be
there.  In real nascar it takes skill to drive the ovals but these arcade
games arent worth it.  N3 will finally start seperating the men from the
boys and not just be another arcade roundy round game.  Thats all.

Actually, it is very possible to learn tracks from sims, especially road
courses.  I guarantee you that you would run better quicker if you played
icr2 or gp2 before you hit the actual tracks in a racer.  They can teach you
not only the racing line, but they can help you get your timing down, and
you learn what to expect around the next corner.

It is a known fact that Jacques Villenuve used a computer F-1 game (He never
said wich one) to get familiar with Spa. When asked how a rookie (1996)
could grab the pole on a track he had never seen before, he said "I've been
around this course a million times on my computer racing game, and believe
it or not it helped immensely!"

If true then I think this is an immense compliment being paid towards the
makers of driving sims.  Heck the Air Force puts it pilots thru tons of hours
of sim practice so why not racing jocks?  I know I would...

I don't remembre any articles saying that he did use GP2. I do remember that
there was quite a bit of rampant logic going around at the time that said
something like this:

1. He used a game to learn Spa.
2. GP2 was the ONLY sim to have Spa.
3. Ergo, he used GP2.

He also called it stupid (called it a video game) and said the race wasn't
realistic, (to P. Windsor in Off-Track Buzzzzz - ESPN2) but it doesn't
change the fact that he used it to learn the tracks before getting there.
Just like Barrichello did to learn Suzuka the same year.
