VIPER Racing file formats

Hi RAS,

I've been scratching aroung the VIPER Racing track, car, etc... files.
They appear to be similar to the Papyrus dat files, except for different extensions.
Also, the packing seems to be done differently. Has anybody tried to figure this
out as yet? If you have, let me know, as I'm sure this sim's life can really
be extended.

Thanks
Darrell Pietersen

Hello Darell!

I too have been poking around the Viper files...
I'd really like to see ANY kind of new track for Viper,
so I have put that in my pile of  second-priority projects  .....
i.e..defintely to be given a  look when I find
the time and and a ***/serious hex-editor program

My preliminary effort was directed towards trying to find similarities
in header information and formats of the track files, and to
read about the track files of GPL,in order to get an understanding
for how track files MIGHT be designed, even if GPL has a different
architecture.

I'd be glad to discuss this subject with you and everybody else that
might be interested ....who knows,it might just lead to new Viper tracks
seeing the lights of day sometime in the future!

regards,
Robert S?derberg

I recently started playing Viper after not having played it for a few months,
and I have fallen in love with this awesome sim yet again. The only reason I
stopped playing it before was due to the lack of new tracks, and it could also
use a few different cars. But, I still find it to be the most enjoyable sim on
the PC. I hope some of the resident smart guys here can solve the programming
puzzle. GOOD LUCK!!!

I hope that someone will continue to work on making it possible to edit
Viper Racing.  I'd love to see a few real life tracks or something in those
lines.  Anyway, I just wanted to encourage to keep up the work.  I'm looking
forward to seeing any results in the future.

the friendly pysco
