Let us assume the driving model is accurate.
The problem is then, that a PC driver would take chances a normal driver
wouldnt survive.
Kill yourself 9 times, and make a 2:15 the 10'th time....
I assume you mean the Bus Stop chicane? How can you cut it without the curbs
throwing you out of control? If I touch one at any speed, I'm soon mowing the
grass...

There are places to cut all around the track.
Like I said, trying to cut the chicane throws me out of control. Maybe it's
just my system.
Booo...I find myself scared to even get NEAR the curbing.

I'm still using the default setup as well.

I'm guessing you have too much throttle through there. I like to be just
barely resting on the throttle (neutral if that) through the first
left-right, and I'm not sure I ever have full throttle through there I'm out
and in third. It also seems like a REALLY bad place to get in too fast.
It's one set of turns I don't even want to think about trail braking into
(an alien might).

Then can we not insist that all sims have a life and death feature. If
you crash up badly your sim crashes and erases itself from your hardrive,
never to work again. Yeah...I like that ...

a.) the people doing 2:09 to 2:12 aren't the people who spin 5 out of
6 laps. Then again, DeCesaris was never the fastest F1 driver either,
right? (bonus points if you have any idea of what I'm talking about
here)
b.) the best real life drivers push their cars to and beyond the
limits all the time
The universal constant in almost every sim IMHO is that there's not
enough drag or grip, which is probably why high speed tracks always
end up with sim times that make the real life times look ridiculous
(say, Spa or Monza in GPL or Atlanta or Daytona in N2003) and real
life times on low speed tracks with a high emphasis on traction are
impossible to reach in sims (i.e. Bristol or Martinsville or Watkins
Glen in N2003 or Zandvoort in GPL).
Track accuracy of course is another factor...

The GTR demo is inaccurate. But IMHO it's still the most accurate sim to
date. And as the demo says, it's still work in progress...
