Wheel versus keypad

I'm getting a T1 line in ym apartment this fall, which menas I'll be
getting a NROS account for my computer.  I was wondering, though, how
much of a difference does a wheel make in lap times in Nascar2/99?  Is
it significant.  Right now I use the arrow keys, and I have that down
pretty good.
Also, anyone have a reccomendation on a wheel/pedal set that caused NO
istallations?

Thanks,
Gary

It will make a huge difference. N2 will be a totally new sim for you with a
wheel. You can get a TM Nascar Pro for less than 100 bucks(maybe $70?),
which is a pretty good wheel for the money.

Trust me, get a wheel! I guaranty you'll be glad you did.

One more thing... A T1 is total overkill for NROS, though great for GPL and
surfing. I actually slow my 56k connection down to 19.2 for stable
connections to NROS and it works perfectly. So what ya gonna do will all
that spare bandwidth? <G>

I have a stupid question: how can you get a T1 line (or a T3 line for
that matter)? Are phone companies responsible for that? How expensive is
this? I have a cable, which is great, but connection speed can go down
if there's a lot of users logged at the same time (happens all the time
from 20:00 to 22:00).

My guess is that after a couple of hours with a wheel (probably less),
you'll blow all your best lap times out of the water.  At any rate, the
immersion will many times better.  I can't imagine not using a wheel,
myself.

I'm guessing you were asking about a set causing no installation problems.
If that's the case, any of the USB supported outfits should fill your bill.

That's not a stupid question at all. The local telcos throughout the country
will put a T1 where ever you want it(unless of course they are totally brain
dead). Home, outhouse, where ever, as long as you are willing to pay the
installation charges and the monthly bill.

I haven't seen a bill for these services in a couple of years. The last that
I remember seeing consisted of installation charges ranging from $1k to $3k
and monthly charges around $500 a month. I'm sure that as you check around
the country you'll find that the charges vary quite a bit(competition plays
a big part in this).

T1 charges are mileage based in most cases. You'll pay a flat charge per
month then mileage charges based on how far you are from the POP you'll be
connecting too. So a person who lives 2 blocks from the POP will pay less
than someone who lives 5 miles from the POP.

So the answer to your question is yes you could do it but you probably
wouldn't want too. For $60 to $100 a month you can get DSL at or near T1
speeds. The only problem with DSL is its not available everywhere where as
T1 type services probably would be.

As for the T3... Well, unless your last name is Gates you don't even want to
know:) One T3 = 28 T1s so its not hard too see where the price would likely
be:)
