Nascar 4, is it out?

Hey everyone, Dave Molloy here.  You might remember me from all the N2
cars I painted at Simulator ***world and SimSpeed.  I just got a
700mhz computer to replace my old 133mhz and am looking at N3 and N4.
Can anyone tell me if N4 is ready or where I mught find a demo to
download?  Thanks.

Since the closest to the sim industry I get is CompUSA, I have no inside
knowledge.  But N4 debuting in time for Daytona is about as much a
lead pipe cinch as they get.  They are using 2000 for a season so licensing
issues should have all been taken care of long ago.  Multiplay was debugged
thanks to the efforts of the N3 team.  AI uses the smarts from GPL so the
blocked track wiggle should be gone,  the Tracks are all done...the cars
are generic so thats no problem...there may be minor hardware issues..
like the Soundblaster sound problem that was noticed in the demo, but that
has been addressed and corrected(according to Papy's Eric Busch)
so...since time consuming things like Dynamic Weather aren't included,
what would be the hold up???

What video card will I need?  I have an Intel 82810 ver 4.12.01.2604
My audio card is a SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio card
My computer has a Microsoft Gameport Joystick, but I want to get a new
steering wheel and pedal arrangment.
Any suggestions out there?

Thanks! Dave

That and Papyrus has been suprisingly good at hitting their target
dates, which are normally late fall, but I'd bet this date was put
down because they knew they had a good shot at making it.

Can hope anyway...  ;-)

I think they should assign a key for flipping a car back onto it's wheels
after a roll-over. If there is one, myself and countless others aren't
aware of it.

According to papy, get a card with as much memory as you can afford
(textures are larger than previous versions of the sim), and the sim will
use T&L.  This tells me that any GeForce card will be adequate.  However,
if you're in the market for a new card, and are willing to spend some
money, wait until march when the NV-20 based cards are released.
