PGP Track Pack, my opinions

Hi all. I received the Track Pack last night. After spending a few hours
with it here are my findings:

The tracks are for the most part very nice and accurate. I cannot
comment on the tracks that currently do not make up the current F1
schedule, as I have no experience with the real-life tracks, but they
are all very fun to drive on. There are no new graphics for the tracks.
The new tracks reuse existing graphics for the tracks they replace; e.g.
Donnington replaces Jerez, so it reuses Jerez scenery (even that silly
arch thing with Spanish words). Also, there are not as much graphics on
the new tracks as the existing tracks. One new track that is not listed
by InstantAccess as new is Barcelona. The chicane in the back straight
has been removed. I have only tried one new***pit (the Williams), but
there seem to be problems with these. The gear indicator always seems to
go to Neutral if you don't shift for a couple seconds. Also, information
on the steering wheel will show up on the wrong place, e.g. the split
time information showing up below the steering wheel.

Bugs:
1. Two of the tracks are useless for races, as the computer cars almost
always crash going into the pits. The tracks are Paul Ricard, and A1
Ring. This is a SHOWSTOPPING bug in my opinion, and InstantAccess should
not have released the pack with this problem. I have no idea why
InstantAccess would have released Paul Ricard as the demo track, since
the problem is most severe at this track. On the other tracks the cars
enter the pit lane normally.
2. The bugs in the***pits as mentioned above.
3. On one track (I believe A1 Ring), when you leave the pits it looks
like the pits will keep going into the sky, then suddenly the real
pitlane shows up.
4. On another track (I think Zandvoort), when entering the pits, the
pitlane is lower than the track, and when you enter the pit lane it
seems like you underground for about 20 meters, then everything suddenly
fixes itself.

Other annoying things:
1. You must install all new tracks are no new tracks.
2. The track diagram of the old tracks are still shown on the splash
screen.
3. No split-time settings as advertised on the box.
4. Scenery is lacking (can't see the water at Melbourne).
5. The track guide contains MANY typographical errors (mispellings, bad
grammar, etc). They could have at least proofread the thing!

So, I suppose it is worth $20 just for the new tracks, although two of
the tracks are useless for races.

I just removed L-View Pro from my computer, and now when I save documents in
Paint Shop Pro the computer saves the files as  L-View Pro files.  Can
anyone help fix this?

Hi,
intresting to hear this. I was sure that the full version will not fix
the problems we already had with the demo. The problem with the pit
especially is something what shouldn't happen to a comercial product.

I race with the demo of Paul Rickard for nearly two weeks now and it
never happend again that even one car crashed into the pitlane wall.
The solution was simple. I replaced the second gp, this is Aida with
Paul Ricard circuit. The pitlane entrance is there at the right side
too. I'm nearly sure this is all what causes this problem. There must
be some code in the gp2.exe or somewhere else what isn't discovered by
IA. Try it with Aida you will see it works well. Probably its also a
solution with problems on other tracks.

Mmmmm.... sounds like a good effort for an amatuer, but BUT not
something that could be sold commercially!  Did you pay for this? Or is
it a shareware give-away?  If its free you can't complain.....but if its
commercial s/ware, sounds like its not finished yet with all these bugs.

Also LviewPro has an OPTION to remove itself from the registry. Try
re-installing PSP if you do not know how to re-associate the files.
