I would guess that by looking at the original request this LAN
connection is actually in a set of student halls. The simplest solution
in this case would be to request your computer centre authorises a
second IP address for your second machine, and also ask if they have an
official policy on connecting 2 machines in a single student room.
(Either that or find a friend who doesn't have a machine and ask if they
would mind "looking after it" for you.)
