GPL / N4 player.  I am using modified (heavily) T2 pedals and a LWFF.
Problem is lack of precision in braking.  Ive been using a spring/plunger
setup I designed to fit on the back of the prake pedal (not precise enough,
I am locking brakes up a LOT) and was thinking of changing to the old squash
ball and giving that a try.  Came up with this idea... would a hood shock
from a car be a viable replacement for the spring and plunger I am using
now?  It would be about the same size, anyone try this or somthing similar?

If you mean the spring that keeps your engine hood from slamming down
I think you'd find it way to firm a spring. But that all depends on
where it is in your system and what kind of leverage your getting on
it. I'm using an ECCI system and I'm not familiar with T2s. I've had
my best luck with slightly firmer springs to replace the stock
ones, supplemented with various densitys of foam under the pedal.
Don't hesitate to experiment with anything you might think would
work. If you haven't already, increase the volume of your skid sound,
that helps a bunch.

Brake "lock-up" in N4 (not sure about GPL, haven't tested it yet....but
probably applies equally in GPL and N4) is not only an issue of a physical
brake stop....on the peddle.  Its an issue of the brake "response curve" to
the ohm-resistance resolution sent to the computer ("game") from the brake
controller's brake peddle.  You can not hope to get both a realistic brake
"feel"....and a realistic brake "response" from the sim race
car.......without a "physical" limitation on brake travel......and a
"logarithmic" ohm-resistance resolution.  Look to a "pressure" curve at the
calipers....on a real race car brake system......as a "key" to unlock the
solution to this entire problem in N4 (or GPL for that matter).

Placing a "*** ball" under the brake peddle helps "fix" the peddle's
travel resolution.....but it does virtually little to the "brake response"
resolution in the "game."  In other words, if the "problem" is defined as
100%......the "*** ball" takes care of about 10% of the problem.
Granted, the brake will "feel" more realistic....but you'll still be
locking'em up with total inconsistency in braking.

It will be interesting to watch over the next several months as the N4
leagues are beginning to develop, who the "fast guys" are.....and I will bet
you they have also "solved" this brake issue in N4.  This is a "competitive"
issue....so I doubt you'll see anyone actually telling you how they solved
it, much like WC teams keep their setups and other "tricks" secret (or as
secret as they can).

for a spring for my LWFF pedalsi got hold of a heavy duty spring out of an
automatic transmission, out of what gearbox, i have no idea. i took my brake
spring in and found a spring about double the wire diameter of the original
still could go a bit stiffer, but its alot more controlable now, and the
LWFF Pedals aint so bad after all. Now using  Act Labs Force RS Wheel and
LWFF pedals.
hope this helps

You mean one of those *** cylinders.
That works nicely, I'm using a (similar) doorstop myself.
You can find some info on my webpage - I call this "pressure sensitive brake".
