I  like the look of the Need for SPeed. But does it run at a
reasonable frame rate on my 486DX4 100 mhz with 8 mb RAM and ET4000
VESA card? -   Rene Feijen

It should run so-so in Hi-Res (640x480) ...  I really wants a Pentium and 16mb, but I've run it on a DX4/100
with acceptable results (but I did have more memory - you will probably have to make a boot disk) ..

good luck.

p.s.  when you do get it, grab some of the great "new" tracks that are available ...

If it runs, the graphics will be pretty square and pixelated.  I've got a
75mhz Pentium, and when I had 8megs of ram, it looked pretty bad.  Now
that I have 16 megs I can run with the clearest setting of Hi-res.

Should work fine, I've got it working in SVGA mode on my 486DX 33mhz, 8mb
RAM, with a few of the pretty extras turned off. True, it looks better on my
friend's pentium, but I'm satisfied with what I've got.

Your system is very close to mine and personally I don't bother
playing Need for Speed as the system is not fast enough. It runs ok in
standard VGA but looks terrible, and runs too slowly in SVGA mode.

Did you never have a Spectrum or C64?  We had to put up with shit
graphics AND unrealistic play.  At least NFS has a really realistic
traction engine.  I have a DX2/66 and play on VGA, close VP, no horizon
(etc) and still love skidding around (but you're right -- it does look
terrible, frame rate is only #just# barable)

I can't believe it wont run F1GP2 even at all!
When I got it it was the DUCK'S NUTS, now it's like having an Amstrad
PCW8256.....
