rec.autos.simulators

Does anyone know how to go about proposing this?

Like: rec.autos.simulators.nascar 3

Hi,
   Why not just call it "rec.autos.simulators.nascar"?  NASCAR Racing 3
isn't the first (and hopefully won't be the last NASCAR sim), why
restrict it to one sim?  When people start playing NASCAR Racing 4 the
group will just be abandoned and end up being a waste.  IMO, R.A.S.
serves its purpose very well.  It is the main group I read everyday for
all of my sim racing news/gossip? :)  Sure there will be a flood of news
posts when N3 is released, but it will eventually slow down a bit and
people will move on to GP3 or Rally Champ, etc.  I remember when GPL was
released, I was at University all day so I didn't get a chance to check
to group until the evening.  On good days then I think the group got 120-
150 posts a day, but on that day (in mid Oct.) it was 280+!  Maybe a
better place to discuss N3 would be the NASCAR Racing 3 forum at
www.simracingnews.com.

No there is no need for that.

the rec.* hierarchy will never find a reason for that.  People on r.a.s. are
all against this also.  There is newsgroups in that hierarchy with
1000+messages per day and they do not split.  r.a.s. has 200 when there is
action.  It will never happen! ;)

Nascar1 was talked about here on r.a.s. then Nascar2 then Nascar99, now
Nascar3 will be talked about here on r.a.s. just think howm many empty
newsgroups we would have now, if each time a new popular sim title
came out someone created a new newsgroup.

No thanks, let's keep all the sim talk in the same group where we call
all benefit from each other's view point.

I too would like to see a rec.autos.simulations.Nascar newsgroup !

I, also, enjoy the online aspect of N2 racing and going through 200-400
messages takes up too much of my precious time. I end up spending more time
reading than racing ! If TEN plugs the plug on the NROS and the
TEN.simulators newsgroup then all of the onliner's will need a place to go.

Whilst I agree that it would be nice to have another newsgroup devoted
to Nascar sims, it would be better to call it something like
rec.autos.simulators.nascar or rec.autos.simulators.nascar-racing, or
even rec.autos.simulators.papyrus.

R.A.S. can sometimes feel just a little too cramped, as it often
receives hundreds of messages a day - sometimes more!

This is by no means a bad thing, but there would certainly be benefits
to a newsgroup more specific to one genre.

I agree. I like all racing sims, and I'd want to scan through all the
messages anyway so I'd like to get it one group.
Once we're through the initial burst of posts, having it a separate
group will just be a pain in the butt.
