*** 5th Amiga F1GP Internet Championship starts on 29-Oct-97 ***

(weekly reminder #2, 20-Aug-97)

Introduction
------------
Well, most of you know Microprose's "Formula One Grand Prix" from Geoff
Crammond. This game was (and is again) a topseller and many Amigians
enjoyed it and still enjoy it. The Internet has made it possible to run a
worldwide championship so that drivers can compare their abilities with
others. Now as the 4th season has ended, the planning of the 5th season has
reached the final stage.

The basic idea of the championship
----------------------------------
Every race has two components: in week _one_ the result of the qualifying
session is sent to the maintainer who publishes it on the amigaf1gp -
mailinglist. In week _two_ the competitors drive their race and again send
this result via E-Mail to the maintainer. This is done for all the six***
tracks (till June 1998) and at the end of the season the driver who scored
the most points is the Amiga F1GP Internet champion.

ACE and SEMI-PRO
----------------
The ACE championship is run without any driving aid, and the full race
distance is driven.

The SEMI-PRO championship that started last year, will be continued.
Apart from the fact the race distance is only 50% and only 10 races count
to the championship, you are allowed to use the driving aids that are
allowed in F1GP's Semi-Pro level.

Two pre-season races
--------------------
To give you a chance to see how it all works and to decide if you want to
start at the ACE or the SEMI-PRO level, two pre-season races are held this
time:

           Qualifying     Race
*Phoenix:  20-Aug-97    27-Aug-97 (wet!)*
*Adelaide: 17-Sep-97    24-Sep-97*

(Please note that the race at Phoenix will be a wet race)

You'll need the new version of F1GP-Ed (3.30+) to participate. You can find
it on Aminet in the game/misc directory.

If you like the sound of this and you want to know more about it, set your
WWW-Browser to

         http://www.racesimcentral.net/~oliver/ic/

Here you'll find a WWW registration form, the results from the earlier
championships, the last set of rules, how to subscribe to the
amigaf1gp-mailinglist and lots of other F1GP related things, including all
the tools you'll need to participate. This site is maintained by Oliver
Roberts, the author of the fantastic "F1GP-Ed", an editor that allows you
to alter nearly every little thing in F1GP.

In case you have no WWW access, you can also send me an E-Mail:

and I'll send you the rules, the schedule and other info. And, of course,
I'll try to answer your questions.

Bye,
