That's "Floating Point Unit" or "Math" Co Processor. It takes a load off the
main processor by doing the math. The FPU is built in the Pentuim chips and
most 486 CPUs. If you have an older machine with a 486SX or other CPU that
doesn't have a FPU there is a socket on your mother board where you can
install a "Math Co Processor Chip". Check the price first because new mother
boards with fast 486s and pentiums are becoming very inexpensive and They'll
give you much more bang for your buck. A lot of programs now require that
you have a FPU.

Good Luck,

FPU is the Floating Point processor.  This can either be incorporated
into the chip (486DX, Pentium) or is a separate plug in processor for
(?86SX) CPUs without it.  It is a chip specifically designed to to
floating point math in hardware as opposed to using software
calculations.  Thus it is FASTER!

I'll help you Tom,  please ignore Chris,   he's just showin' off.

FPU Co-processor means "Floating Point Co-processor"
Sorry,  don't know how to fix it.
