Before I race MultiCar.......

Hi,

I'm really interested in race on the bbs, but have a few questions for
those who have already tried it.

1.  How fast do I need to be?   At Talladega i can run about 194 on my
own.  I race at 100% opponent strength and can usually finish in the
top 5, mainly by waiting a couple of laps and then start slingshotting
around other cars.  Am I going to get run over if I get on Hawaii?
Also if anyone knows how to get a fast exit speed out of turn 2 (I
always get around 185) I'm listening :).

2.  Should I only try the short tracks if I have a wheel?  I race with
a joystick. Though I'm normally pretty stable, occasionally it gets a
little hairy getting out of the throttle and onto the break.  Sue me,
but sometimes I hit the wrong damn button and down shift( who decided
to put 14 different buttons on a joystick anyway!)  For now I'll
probably stick to 'dega, but am just wondering if anyone else is
hitting the shortracks with a stick.

3.  Where do I get the patch? I know the address was posted earlier,
but I thought I wasn't good enough to try (even though I bought the
game two weeks after it was released).  After reading some of the
posts, I think I can hold my own, though I may give you a little nudge
on the back stretch at 'dega ;).

Thanks,

Ian Fleming

Oh yeah, will I be driving my  Texas Terry Sunoco 94 car when I log
on?

If you drive to stay out of trouble instead of trying to be fastest you can
pull off top threes with 185s while everyone else wrecks themselves to be
leading on the first lap.

That depends on how comfortable you are with your stick, I'm sure that a large
amount (if not most) of the drivers online are using sticks instead of wheels.

Try Dling it from the sierra BBS, 1-206-644-0112, or www.sierra.com. The file
is called Hawaii.exe (self extracting. As far as what car you drive, there's a
standard car set to dl called multicars.zip that most people use, it simplifies
IDing people on the track.

Good luck..

You're not gonna get run over, but you're not gonna run with the
leaders either.  A good qualifiying lap at Talladega on Hawaii seems
to be about the high 192's low 193's.  You need to be going around 200
at the end of the straights.  Try making your 4th gear 1 or 2 steps
taller.  185 is a decent exit speed for turn 2.  But it could be a
lttle faster.  try keeping your speed up by SLOWLY turning all the way
down below the white line.  Going down the banking keeps your speed
up.  Then when the track flattens out move back up against the outside
wall.

No, it depends on which car number you are assigned when you join a
race.

You'll need 194.9xx at least to sit on the pole for a race that has more than 10 drivers.

This is not realistic in real life and hopefully Papyrus will fix this along with fixing the
trioval.  If you are going 192mph and you put your left wheels over that white line, you will
lose your downforce and the car will spin.  I knew you could drive down there even before I
drove HAWAII, but I never made it a practice since it isn't necessary to beat the AI.  Don't
get accustomed to driving down there because it should probably go away with the next version
of NASCAR.
