Well, everyone, just when you thought SRO was "vaporware," I finally
got my ***in gear and put up the "site frame" today. That means
that now all five of the partner sites are now live onsite and hooked
into an index page that actually WORKS.
Now, this is not to say everything is polished off completely. I have
extremely limited time to go through the site and work on stuff, and
the other partners are in the same fix. But progress is continuing.
The newest addition to the SRO "family" is the Racer's Choice Web
Directory, an old project of mine I've revamped with CGI. My goal is
to get the RCWD set up so that there are two racing-related link lists
-- one, a raw list that allows anyone and everyone to add a link, and
another that is much like Stroud's CWSAPPS page. This "rated"
directory will judge submitted Web sites by a set of five or six
criteria, along with a full review of the site with its pros and cons.
I'm hoping that this area of RCWD will help to sift the "look-alike"
cookie-cutter pages from the core group of really useful sites out
there, as well as provide you with a comprehensive and accessible
guide to sim-racing related sites on the 'Net.
This is not going to be easy, nor will it happen overnight. I'm
personally managing three sites (SRO's main index, IWCCCARS, and now
RCWD) as well as maintaining the server, so I'm very strapped for time
and, lately, cash. But I'll keep everyone posted as to how things are
going.
In the meantime, enjoy the site, let us know what you think.
