UKGPL league, help required.

by Ian Parke » Thu, 24 Jun 1999 04:00:00

Hi all, I have recently taken over administration of the UKGPL league.
We currently have a hosting problem due to the present lack of high
bandwidth telecommunication systems in the UK.
So to get to the point, I'm looking for anyone who would be prepared to host
a league race for us on occasions.
We can't offer any reward, except the chance to race with an eager bunch of
drivers from the UK, not much of an incentive I can hear you all saying
already :)

We normally try to race on a Sunday evening, but will fit in with what can
be provided. The races are intermediate long events and have from 12 to 18
drivers participating.

If you feel you may be able to offer your services and host a race or two on
occasions, then please contact me at the address below.
Your contributions will be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou

Ian Parker

I know -nothing- about what you just said, but I love GPL and would relish
the chance of some multiplayer races.  I'd say I was at an above beginner
getting on for intermediate level of ability - but only at a couple of
tracks. I notice you're with btinternet (which means free wireplay) - me too.
Wireplay seem pretty keen on FPS games, but how do we encourage them to take
on somthing like GPL?  Once again, knowing nothing about multiplayer, I don't
know if this is valid or what, but if it is, could we start a petition?

I mailed Wireplay a week or so ago, still awaiting a reply :(
If you want to compete online you are welcome to join the league
http://start.at/greenflag or  http://www.btinternet.com/~ukgpl/ukgpl/ and
meet other UK drivers to race against, only ISDN at the moment, but normally
run about 6 car races.
Alternatively go to http://vroc.net (requires Netscape ) or GSB
http://gpl.gamestats.com/gsb/ and you can join races directly from there.
We normally meet up for races via GSB.
