O.k> I will probably get laughed off the newsgroup, but I just
recently bought NR2003 Season for my dinosaur computer (350 MHZ, 96M
Ram, Geoforce 2 MX 32MB Vid Card. Let the laughing begin now). With
just about everything turned down or off I still get Frames of about
18-25 and fairly smooth. What is really bugging me is the stutters
that occur occasionally while racing.

There may be no hope for me since I know that I am way below minimum
specs for this game, but if someone could direct me to a website with
tweaks for the .INI files, I may be able to squeeze a little more out
of NR2003 to accomodate my laughable system.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

I really think you have overmatched your system, but the biggest key to
smooth framerates is to first, turn off all shadows.  Turn off the Sun
Glare  effects...for opengl this really kills the fps.  Next limit your
viewable cars to a very small number.  Finally....for an extra 10 fps or
so..race online instead of offline.  Since the cpu doesn't have to keep
track of all the ai cars and drive for them, it seems to improve framerate.

I won't laugh but I will say, you need to try and save for an
upgrade...motherboard, cpu, memory can be replaced for 300 to 600 dollars.
If you do make an upgrade shoot for as much cpu as you can afford...the
closer to 3ghz(intel) or 3000+, for the AMD chips, the better.  I'm
currently running a 2800xp, which was a big improvement from the 2100xp I
had.

The best thing I found for getting my old 450mhz to run NR2003 smoothly was
this program from www.xteq.com.  The setting that made the biggest
differance for me was the one where you set your computer to use all
available memory before using the swapfile.  Once I set this the game ran
smooth.

Just be sure to have atleast 256mb of ram and nothing in the background.
You're mileage may vary.  And like anything else involving computers, it may
not work for you.

What program Joel?  The website looked dedicated to credit card readers,
not memory mangers...what did I miss?
