F1RC2 Howto ...any good

Hi,

I am a big fan of F1 Sims. I hardly cannot find F1 Racing Championship any
good.
I used to play both GP2 & GP3 as well as F1RS and F1RC. They were all very
good  - however, the Ubisofts were always a bit buggy though - and I still
enjoy GP3 very much.

A couple of weeks ago I purchased F1RC 2 and have several issues with it :

1. The sound is so bad that I cannot stand it any longer than 5 minutes.
Reminds me
of some of those Arcade type F1 Sims we had couple of years ago. Crap!

2. The graphics are buggy. When I switch through the different views, my car
and all walls and buildings suddenly become transparent.

3. The handling is absolutely unpredictable : In GP3 you can learn how your
car
"feels" or behaves with a certain setup or on a specific track. In this
sim I cannot
get my "feet on the ground" - no feeling for the car.

4.***pits : No comment!

However, I think the graphical engine isnt that bad. Tracks look great
until they start
to become buggy. It certainly needs a big patch. But do you believe that
they can turn
it in something good? At this moment it is no fun playing that game  - a
waste of
time and money.

If you disagree - how did you change the game? Why do you like it the way it
comes?

Cheers

Chris

I had a simaler problem with a Radeon but with my GeForce's 1 & 2 I've never
had any problems.

If the setup is wrong the cars get very 'snappy' but if you use good setups
like Ian Bell's the real feeling of the physics come out. Also wheel setup
makes a 'big' diference to the feel of the game try epotential steering with
about 24-25 degrees of lock or linear with 19-20 degrees. IMO the physics
are very good not anywhere near GPL/N4 level but the best of the rest, I get
a much better feel from F1RC then GP3 I supose it's just what you are used
to.

The***pits are a bit shoddy but the T-cam views are very nice and give a
great feel.

It is a matter of opinon but I feel it has allot to offer, I bought Le Mans
24 hour now that's what you call a waste of time and money ;-)

I'm curently running the game in virtualy standerd trim but for a few AI and
FF adjustments and enjoying it allot inbetween playing N4 and GPL.

1. Next time buy it from a retail store and not some guy on the
corner selling cd copied versions of alpha software.
2.  Download some new sounds, there are dozens out.
3.  Make your own sounds.
4.  Get off that mono 8bit sound system.

 1. RTFM, theres  a keyboard shortcut to turn that off.
 2. Stop using the see-through-the-wall OpenGL drivers.

1. Buy a wheel
2. Practice.
3. It has the best FF of any game, so turn it on if you have a FF
wheel.

1. You should have downloaded the demo.
2. Take it back if you don't like it.
3. Make your own game.

the main appeal of f1rc is the ghostlaps.  this is the *coolest*
feature when *training*.
