I see this mentioned in various GP3 threads.
Was the Revs the C64 game that had multi-player
split screen, and you moved the pit crew
around with the joystick?

Yup. Revs was indeed a C-64 game. One of my first racing games.
Very well done for it's time.

No, that would have been Pitstop II. Revs had an in-car view, Pitstop
II didn't.

Hi Tom

Revs was written by Sir Geoff and came out first for the BBC micro in the
ealry 1980s. Revs simulted British Formula 3. If I remember correctly, it
first came out with just Silverstone and then a 4 track expansion was
added with Snetterton, Oulton Park, Brands Hatch and... I forget.

It had a neat feature whereby if you stalled the car you had to restart
the engine.

It was a very excellent sim.

Donnington - the old layout before the Melbourne loop was added.

The first title worthy of that appellation.

I had the pleasure of owning Revs+ for the C64 back in 1986/87. It was the
first true racing game that I'd ever seen.

Pretty nifty how you could hold the gearchange key down for a clutch
(although digital) but that was a pretty cool feature to have.

There were 8 tracks (can't remember the names now though - Snetterton, Spa?)
but the other drivers had funny names. Wilma Cargo is the only one I can
remember. Anyone remember some of the others?

The game you are describing was either Pitstop or Pitstop II.

Bye,
Ian

Revs+ had the modern Nurburgring, Silver, Snetterton, Oulton Park,
Donington, Brands Hatch .. you sure there were 8 tracks? About the drivers,
Miles Behind was hilarious :)

All I can be sure of was that there were an even number and you had to
select 2 tracks to play when it was loading. To drive the others required a
it to be reloaded........actually that sounds funny now, not reinstalled ;)

Those tracks sound like the ones, thanks :)

Bye,
Ian

By coincidence I discovered a recorded lap from years ago (just connected the
TVout to the VCR).
Revs at those times was incredible.
Seen today - oh my god!!!

My advice to everybody who thinks about digging it out:
Leave it where it is and don't spoil your memories.
