Club SODA still exists! (not the soft drink)

Hey, after a post about SODA Off-Road racing, it reminded me of it, so I
loaded it up again and had a blast. And to think I dissed it over a year ago
for CMR :) What was I thinking. Well anyways, I was suprised to see it
active and running and theirs still tons of tracks (88).  It's at:
http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Plus, theirs other places, here are some links

http://www.racesimcentral.net/~tusta/tracks.html
http://www.racesimcentral.net/(records)

These are just off the links page, so if you check it out, theres more :)

Thanks,
Alex

Hey Alex,

Could you possibly load up an image of a software-accelerated acreenshot? I'm
trying to decide whether or not to get it and if the graphics look OK I
probably will... or if you know of anywhere any might be posted...

thanks,
Andrew

I don't have a Rendition card, but a GeForce, so I don't know. It looked
pretty good on the box with 3d acceleration, but unless you have like a
Stealth 2, you can't use it. The renidition cards are all a couple years
old, you won't be able to use them with any Riva TNT, TNT2, Riva TNT128,
GeForce, Geforce 2, V1, V2, V3, V5, etc. Most likely you don't have one
because then the only games you could use with it would be N2, N3, GPL,
SODA, ICR2 and like one or two others.

Thanks,
Alex

I've posted a few screenshots of SODA.  Note that these are the full 640x480
resolution shots, so they will look a little better on your screen most likely
as they will be compressed down compared to your screen.  Try setting your
desktop to 640x480 and view the pictures.

actually from what I remember of the sim, those screen shots don't
look too different from my Rendition views.  Most likely todays speedy
cpu's can overcome much of the software versions slow fps and pretty
much match the old 3d acellerated version

I have an old box with a Screamin' 3D, and the biggest difference is
the filtering of the track textures.
SODA pushed the limits back when it came out (200MMX was hot then),
but runs great on in software mode on a P2/400.

If Leadfoot can come anywhere close to this game while offering 3D
acceleration, I'll have a new favorite game.

You can download the demo for SODA at sierra.com.  It's worth a look.
