Hello, pilots --- I'd like to introduce you to Roger Wilco.
It is a voice-radio app that lets you talk to your friends while
playing
online.
You can download it and try it at http://www.racesimcentral.net/
Roger Wilco is a companion application that runs ALONGSIDE DirectSound
games
such as Janes F-15, WarBirds, Falcon 4.0 (presumably), TAW, WW-II
Fighters,
and many other titles such as Quake, StarCraft and Unreal. It gives
each
game a very nice virtual radio to allow you to talk to the other
players in
real-time.
FEATURES:
1. NO SERVER REQUIRED. Just meet a hosting radio user at his
machine.
This is pretty much the same way you connected to them to play the
game,
in many cases. We will continue to design Roger Wilco so that
this
characteristic -- WORKING ON THE MACHINES YOU OWN -- remains
constant.
2. 4 players on a channel -- more coming soon!
3. radio transmissions belnd in nicely with game audio, as though the
radio feature was integrally a part of the game.
4. It sounds like a radio with mike squawks and such. A
well-adjusted mike
makes the speaker sound just shy of telephone quality speech.
5. Small size -- less than a megabyte to download.
REQUIREMENTS
1. 166 MHz machines or faster
2. Win 95 or Win 98
3. 2 MB disk space
4. 28.8K modem
5. a soundcard that offers full-duplex audio under DirectSound.
A current list is at www.resounding.com
We developed this tool because we wanted to use it. But, right now,
it is
time to get the word out so I resorted to a well-labelled,
dispassionate
announcement.
Thanks for reading.
