I was just thumbing throught the latest issue of PCAccelerator Magazine, and
seen an ad for Official Formula 1 Racing. This game has the FIA licensing
and seems to be made as a simulator, (although it also has an arcade mode).
This is a long shot, but...
Rumours have been floating around about the release of GP3, Geoff
Crammond was seen taking data at a formula one track, Geoff Crammond was
fired from Microprose, etc., etc. Do you think that this may be the long
awaited GP3? The game is to be published by EIDOS and the ad says that it is
available now, but they have nothing on their site about it (as of 5/6/99)
and I haven't seen a demo. Does anyone have any more info on this game. My
*** is already pumping hard, and I'm starting to drool...  :)

No that's another title.  Microprose is publishing Gp3, and Geoff Crammond
is still developing the title.  The other one your saying, "Official Formula
1 racing" is mostly an arcade racer.

says...

God forbid. If OF1R was the long awaited GP3 I might as well lie down and
die.

For all I know, OF1R is more like a long forgotten game which never made
it to release, got revamped and resurrected and that's why there's so
much info of it on the net. At least it doesn't die because of excessive
hype.

They should've spent the licencing fee in development instead.

Slight correction: Geoff Crammond was never a Microprose employee so could
not have been fired by them.

Slight opinion: Geoff Crammond is more likely to have severed connections
with Microprose rather than vice-versa.

<snip>

I've got the demo,  and its looks very good.  In fact,  better than
F1RS and Monaco F1RS.

Cheers.....Ken
