Anybody have a fix for not being able to pause the race while in
Multiplayer mode?

We did not permit anyone to pause the game in multiplayer, because
obviously, everyone would have to pause at the same time... (which we
could force, but think about how hard it is to resume from a pause
without crashing the car, particularly if you didn't pause on a
straightaway.)

In multiplayer, if you were to hit pause, you might well be on a
straight, but chances are good one of your opponents would be in a
curve, or in some other situation that they might not want to be
"paused" and then have to resume from. (Which would lead to an obvious
strategy... :-) )

There isn't (nore has ever been) a pause feature while modem racing in =
Nascar 1 or 2.

You guys at papy must spend a lot of nights burning oil....

I understand your point but I would like you to consider a pause as well in
multiplayer and I wouldn't be surprised if I play more multiplayer games than
anybody, and I'm askin. I agree with what you say but at the same time a pause
is desperately needed in some situations no matter what. You guys really need
to understand there are external forces that can take you away from a game in
the middle. It's just that simple and were talking everybody, even you if the
boss comes calling...

Now again it would be a toggle, possibly one that everybody linked would have
to vote on to use. I'll grant you for league races a pause is not an option.

ICR1 supports 2 player "pause" in a manner of speaking.  If either
player hits the ESC key, both players leave the race.  Then both players
can re-enter the race at the point they left.  A little tricky,
especially on road courses, but a friend and I used it for breaks during
races for a year or so.  Note that this works great under yellows.
Actually, this was one of our complaints for ICR2 and Nascar1.  This
approach for more than 2 players is probably not workable.

Since it could be used to an obvious advantage over another, why not
create it so that when selected, the person jumps to the pit, but doesn't
recieve any benifit from this (as if black-flagged - all brokey, no fixy).

In the middle of a looooong play (this is still a game, right?), you could
simply take a 1-lap penalty for having to get up and go...er...make an
unscheduled pit-stop...  ;)

says...

I believe Quake has an option to allow multiplayer game pauses, it's an option
the server operator can switch on or off.
