Annoyed at iRacing not allowing Skip Barber racing this week, I got decided to take
my frustrations out on the Solstice, which I -- as you may remember -- hate.

Somewhere along the line I got a bit carried away and started having fun. But don't
tell anyone at iRacing! (That includes you Tim, stop reading ;-)

All done in testing, fortunately. So no SR was scraped off along with all that
paint.

PS. Someone started an 'iRacers for Christ' thread in the forums. And it was
*serious*. I was expecting something funny! What a disappointment.

I feel so out of place on iRacing at times. :-)

Actually the advanced Solstice seems to be more entertaining to drive in the latest
build (maybe it was before and I didn't notice). For instance you can whack it from
neutral to 1st and spin the car around. In the Skip Barber either the tyres have
superglue on them or the 1st gear is still way too long to allow a quick 180 turn
if you get out of shape... or just feel the need to break another engine. :-)

Speaking of which, I thought I was a fairly safe driver in terms of engine damage,
but I broke a Skip Barber engine in my first test lap for next week's racing.
Changing rapidly down the gears into the final hairpin at Infineon left me with a
misfire and hardly any power. That's made me a little nervous now in this new
build... as if I didn't have enough to be nervous about already!

Anyway, glad you enjoyed the movie.

At first I was watching it and was like, 'yeah, seen it before, standard
GPL/NR2003 crash physics' but after a while I was laughing at the
syncing to the music and the progressively worse off Solstice. Really
great stuff.

Then the credits start, and I see there is still tons of time on the
seek bar and am wondering wtf is coming next.

Awesome! Awesome is what is coming next.

Thanks!

This may actually make me visit the forums again before my
subscription expires in December, just out of some perverse
curiosity. Thanks for the heads up, this should be interesting ;-)

You'll be glad to know that thread soon vanished out of sight after attracting some
criticism. There are plenty of people complaining about the wreckfest truck racing
though. I can't understand the fuss myself, I thought that's what everyone watches
oval racing to see? :-)

The most depressing thread though now (for me anyway) is about the 'leaked' news of
a Corvette coming to iRacing. Just what the sim needs... another overweight US tank.
As of the Solstice wasn't enough of a slap in the face to racing enthusiasts!

Apparently iRacing have a deal of some kind with General Motors though, which
explains it. Exactly what will happen when GM is taken over by the taxpayer -- as
will be required very soon -- I've no idea.

I get a lot of time to think and plan at the back of the field. Occasionally I see
another car though, which ruins my train of thought. ;-)
