100 Octane gas and HIGH gas prices in SoCal

Over on the MHaven Forum (BMW "M" cars) there is a lot of talk about how or
gas prices are going SKY-HIGH and more again tonight! It is getting kinda
crazy with these prices!

Also it seems that in some states there is 93 and 94 octane gas for sale. I
have not seen 93 or 94 here in SoCal, but there are Union 76 stations that
have 100 UNLEADED and 110 LEADED. Here is a partial list (all Union 76) -
also this was as of a MONTH ago:

Yorba Linda **** ALSO THE CHEAPEST!!! PUMP
San's 76 on Imperial a bit north of the 91
This guy is DAMN COOL TOO!!! Last time I was there (3-4 weeks ago) his 100
was $3.53 a gal

Osborne 76 in Redondo Beach PUMP
This guys is not very nice at all! Told me he was the ONLY 100 octane 76!
Also his price was near $5 a gal!!!!!!

South Pasadena at the end of the 110 PUMP
Not too bad a guy, but recently changed owners, and around $4.50 a gal

Norwalk on Firestone DRUMS
this was a relative of the old S Pasadena owner, still kinda high

Newport Beach 76 & car wash
on San Miguel Rd behind the Fashion Island Mall in the hills - supposedly
cause Reggie Jackson lives nearby and is a car nut, this will ALWAYS have
100! Price is still over $4

West Covina on Citrus (never been here)

Agoura Hills on Dorothy Dr (never been here)

Pomona Beach - Doherty (???) on Village Loop Rd (never been here)

Now the KILLER!!!!! A lot of states with LOW gas prices are actually using
OUR GAS/OIL!!!! So how the HELL do they get it CHEAPER than we do, and it
even had to be transported to there too!!!???

Perhaps what we all need to do is STOP buying gas from ALL stations for a
few days! All of us, everywhere. There is no BETTER way to tell the oil
companies our being pissed off at their RIPOFF's than not filling their
pockets! Imagine if everyone all across the USA stopped buying gas for even
a day??? How much you think they'd loose in one day??? So if there can be a
so called "smokeless" day, why not a GASSLESS day?

Not buying gas for a day would have little effect.  Not driving would.

this is a dumn question, but what is the ultimate benefit of this 100
octane? if it turns my XJS into a ferrari, i'm game. i know of the fashion
island locale and will give it a try. lemme see...9 miles per gallon...$5
per gallon...50 miles to work and back...uh...carry the two...um...HOLY

Well, I have an A4 1.8T with the AMS (ABT) Stage II chip. The Super Unleaded
92 octane gas pings in my car a bit, so this helps in that aspect. But what
I also found out was that with the 100 octane gas in my car, the ECU is able
to use a higher boost and higher timing advance which = more power. Now on a
car that does not have a chip in it, I'm not sure if you will see a
difference.

Well for all you who haven't realized that shell's gas prices are about
5-20cents higher than every other gas station.
Here is why, Shell has raised the rent on their stations from 5-20k.  They
are trying to drive their own stations out of business so they can buy them
back.
I have little respect for them.
Premium in ALamo, ca is 1.99! Gas here is 1.65(AT ALL STATIONS).  I don't
know why.  It's not like there is Oil in Kosovo.

I live in South Carolina, gas is .87 cents a gallon for premium.
.73 cents for normal.

I remember when gas was only 70 cents for regular just a few months ago, now
it's $1.15 for regular here in Kentucky!

Heh, wanna change? Over $4 USD a gallon over here, in Holland. But
we're lucky, Holland is a small country.

You can also buy "racing fuel" and add to your reg gas to make a nice
100 octane at a much cheaper price than at the pump.  Alot of fuel
distributers sell it by the drum or 5 gal containers.

Xylene and Tolulene also make great fuel additives.

Unless your engine is MODIFIED, mainly higher compression and / or forced
induction (turbo, super charging), the only effect of 100 octane will be to
increase the speed at which your wallet empties.

Is there any advantage of buying 93 octane over 91?

In MD, 87 octane (regular) is running at $.99 to $1.05.  I knew gas was getting
expensive in Southern California (yay yay TV news), but does anyone really know
why??
