NR2002: Why does my steering wheel pulls to the left

by Ron » Wed, 24 Apr 2002 12:51:05

Hi
When I come out of the corner, I try to draft behind someone, and the car
is trying to go to the inside wall, sometime I can turn the wheel to the
right slightly, and I can hit just the right position and the car goes
straight
I have a Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel using the usb port, I really
notice this when I am on a long straightaway like Taladege, Daytona or the
new Coca Cola track on NR2002.

It is supposed to do that.  Winston Cup cars are setup to turn left.  and
To turn left quickly you have to compromise on your straightline driving.
after running a bunch of laps, you'll probably even forget it's
there...something to get used to..

Yeah that is true. I loaded up N3 last night and went to run at Atlanta,
came out of the pits onto the backstretch and immediately turned it into the
outter wall because I was used to compensating for the camber etc. settings
in N4/N2K2. :o)

hehe, yesterday I ran a papy server daytona race with a completely
messed up fixed setup. I can't belive how bad it was. The car drifted
to the RIGHT. So I had to steer a bit to the left on the straights and
even more in the turns of course. How someone came up with a setup
like that is beyone me :)

LOL, and everyone thinks Nascar drivers only turn left.  See, they do turn
right...

As noted by everyone else, it is the setup in the car causing this 'pull',
it is on purpose. As you get better at the sim, turn up your sterring
linearity from the stock 20% and you will feel the effect less with a Force
Feedback wheel. At 100% linearity, the pull is barely noticable to me, but I
don't use a FF wheel.

Trust me, you want the car to try and turn left on its own on the ovals...
