ECCI is by far the best wheel available.

I guess it depends how much you want to spend.... do you want force
feedback?

If you want to spend about $140 and you want force feedback I suggest you
get the Act Labs Force RS. I really like mine... the clamping mechanism is
solid but the floor pedals tend to slide around (doesn't stink to carpet).
I've added 3/4" long threaded carpet spikes to the pedal base. Works great
now! I've also added better pedal covers from the auto store.

The Thomas Enterprises wheel seems well built but not worth the $300
starting price. They go all the way up to $1000. Hmmm.... If you got that
kind of money to spend on a sim wheel maybe you should get your own race
car/team.

Well Duh. Until G forces are simulated it won't.

Sure

Well OK. I guess that about covers FF wheels.

Sure, but in the real car you FELT the forces with your body. Something we sim
racers don't have! That's the reason, FF is so helpfull, because with it you
can feel the wheight transfers with your hands. This additional feedback about
the car's behaviour is helping me a lot. Just video and sound just wasn't enough
for me...

what are the features that TSW could justify the $1000 price tag
and does it really feeel that much different in the game ??

Nope, I'm not missing that point at all

I'm well aware of how this works, and as soon as a good high-end FF
wheel comes out with a good FF effect in a sim a care about, I'll
probably buy it, but from my own personal experiences with FF,
admittedly not GPL or N3 but a good number of others including Viper,
it's not a realistic feel to me, just different, the feel I got from
Viper was nothing like the feel I have in my road car when I take it to
edge and beyond (I take it to the local track a couple of times each
year), and comments from people *I* usually trust in this matter seems
to support this, this is not to say however that FF is a dead end, far
from it, I'm fairly sure that FF will some day be very realistic, and at
that point I will buy one, I'm not against FF as such, I just don't feel
that it gives me what I want at the moment, I will however see if I can
get to try GPL with FF though, maybe it'll change my mind ......

My TSW didn't cost anywhere near a grand and although they have some add-ons
which have raised the price, I don't think they're that expensive.

Aside from some ongoing electrical problems, my TSW is a rock-solid unit that
is smooth, reliable and indestructable.  It has paid for itself ove time
because I no longer have to go out and buy new Thrustmasters every year when,
as if on cue, the innards break and the unit disassembles itself.

I agree with you on GPL, but for me N3 is very weak FF-wise.
Am I missing something? I have the FF values set to their maximum
(200) in N3.ini. I can feel it when I tap the walls, but that's
about it... no feedback on how much/little the front tires are
gripping or on weight transfer.

In my defense :-) I said I felt the forces but I have never quantified
the amount of the effect. It is slight and certainly no where near
the forces felt in GPL. However I can certainly feel the tires lose
grip, not strong but strong enough to give meaningful information.
SCGT and F1RS suck in this department by comparision.
