GP2 vs. the rest

I think GP2 still feels 10 times as much as driving a car than all the
super 3d directx ubisoft johnny herbert etc. etc. that's coming out.
Or is the game just too easy? (too much driving aid or so)

Is the GP3 plan definitely dead yet. I haven't been in this group for
ages. It used to be nearly only about GP2 when it came out once.

Well, I used to be an avid GP2 user.... and I agree with you about the
driving 'feel', it is still the best around for modern/winged F1, but the
way to go now is GPL for the most realistic driving experience!
Micropose/Geoff Crammond have lost it..... I think if GP3 hit the streets
now, it would have to be very special indeed to take out GPL as the No.1
sim!  Papy's advance information and demo before the release of GPL is a
fine example of how to generate interest amongst the race sim
fraternity..... I can only imagine that if there is going to be a GP3 and
Micropose still hold the marketing rights, then there marketing people
must be living at the bottom of a well! Where are they?

Dave,

Have to agree, GP3 would have to be something to knock GPL off its
pedestal, now if we could only convince Papy to do a modern era GPL :)!
I really hope we will eventually see a good modern F1 sim, Ubi just cant
seem to get it right no matter how hard they try :(.

After the total insanity that happened in gp2 when the game was reviewed 5
months before it came out I can understand Geoff wants to "finish" the dam
game this time before announcing it! I think comparing it to gpl doesnt
work, geoff and papy have co-existed for a long time because they have a
different style.  Papy say if you dont have skill and a wheel stiff shit!
while the gp series has always been more accesable while still hard with all
the help off. I cant imagine gp3 not rocking!

Oh no, there is already an excellent modern F1 sim (UbiSoft), what I
WANT
from Papy is CART using the GPL engine. Although I want N3 as well,
I'm disappointed (but can understand) their priorities...

GP2 is an outstanding simulator.  Right up there with N2 as far as I'm
concerned...

Yes I agree.  I finally broke down and got F1RS out of the bargain bin for
$10.00.  It doesn't compare to the driving model of GP2 at all, eye candy
yes, drive model Hell No.

Looking for Gp3

IMHO it's time for a NASCAR sim again. I'm surprised how much fun I
have driving the ovals of Dayton and Bemij*** in Viper Racing, and I'd
love to do that in huge field of cars - but pleease Papy, don't forget
FF wheel owners.
On the other hand, I'd like a new CART sim from Papy too, ICR2 was a
masterpiece, IMHO at least as good as GP2, especially because it ran
smoothly at 640x480 on a Pentium 100, and GP2 didn't.

I agree with that. But: another reason I enjoyed ICR2 over such a long
period of time were the though opponents. In GP2 or F1RS it's no
problem to qualify for pole after some time of practicing, without any
helps activated (for joystick). In ICR2 it's a lot of work before you
can even think of finishing on the podium.

For the feel of the drive model, you can't beat GP2.  After getting a new
computer K6-2 400 I figured I'd now be able to have machine for F1RS.  I found
F1RS for $10 at EBWorld and you know what?  F1RS is all eye candy and thats it.
It does not compare at all to GP2 for the "feel" of the car, graphically it looks
good, the sound sucks and when GP3 shows up I'll be first in line.
