nascar 2003 MOD tracks, sound

Your English is fine.

There is no way to limit the tracks seen in the track list to those
that are used by a specific mod. In fact, there really isn't any
limit to the use of tracks by a mod -- we tend to use almost all the
tracks for all the mods. Well, there may not be a lot of people
running the Trans-Am cars on super-speedways, but people drive stock
cars on road courses.

The only "automatic" way to control sound is offered by the Project
Wildfire Trans-Am mod. They have an option to start the game using
one of three sound sets and one of two dash layouts. None of the
other mods offer this option.

You can change the sounds manually -- or by using a batch file to
move sound files around before you start a mod. But I am not clear
on the details of what is involved in doing this, so I won't say
anything more about it (as it would probably be incorrect anyway.)

Hope this helps,

John Simmons Player Picker utility allows you to create several
drivers.
So you could create an Iroc driver and use PP to only show the 4 tracks
IROC runs on.(don't get me started on the sham that IROC is now...once
upon
a time, it was a true mixed series event..now it's just a Nascar benefit)
So with PP you could have a driver for each series, and use PP's track
manager to only allow the correct tracks to be visible.

Again, with PP you should be able to separate the various sound packs
but I haven't messed with that.
As for tracks and schedules...just use google and look up Iroc and
Trans AM.  Grand National is often referred to as Busch.  and tptcc is a
fictional series which has no real league to imitate.  But it's a
roadcourse centered sim league.   The trucks are the Craftsmen Truck
Series.  Probably you can find links to both Busch and CTS at the NExtel
Cup main web site.

Building on what Darryl said,    hope this reads OK...

There is a newer "PWF Mod-utility" (OLR was down last night, might be up
again today?) It is made to allow you to make additional folders for sounds,
tracks, and pick them upon launching the game...  course you cant use this
utility for OLR AFAIK...  you click on this util, instead of the NR2003 icon
to launch the game, to use it.  I use it to set sounds, and even more when
practicing offline.

But beyond the xtra sound-folders that PWF's PTA mod installed, setting up
this "custom choices" it is not automated by any sense of the word.   it
requires you to edit INI files, and in some cases to be able to creat
folders and copy-or-move important files (tracks and sounds is all).

Be carefull, I recommend you ZIP or RAR a copy of the whole NR2003 folder,
if possible before you monkey with this stuff, I managed to delete the dang
best cup sounds by accident, and by golly I cant rememeber where I DL'd them
from, or what download orchive, I had them in (being a dialup user I have to
DL stuff at buddy's or work, so I keep all my downloads on CD...)  But I did
recover because I had the whole thing backed up in .zip folder before I lost
this stuff...

The readme.txt included with that util, is pretty self explanitory, with
some nice "examples"

Here's what I thought was a way to think about this, in a conservative "fits
online & offline" modes...  These just make it easier to select tracks when
your in "OFFLINE, and I WANNA PRACTICE A CERTAIN TRACK" mode, because I dont
have to scroll through 80 some tracks from a-z... & Since when I am online,
I NEVER host because I'm on dialup.

I am doing the "all tracks I have ever found and installed"- folder is the
default "tracks" folder route.  this is so, when I go online I have all
tracks by default, & you can join any race you see (assuming you have found
it and installed it  Hehehehee).

**My caveate about not having "all tracks" in the standard tracks folder is,
when say your online & racing, the guys decide to run a track you "moved"
into the ROAD folder or some other folder, well you have to exit the game
clear out, and reselect the "track folder" to run that track with them...
that can be a hassle if they go from extremes on tracks.  as I now have >
60+ tracks downloaded.  But I have made the following:

1,   Tracks_CUP, which has any tracks that I feel I would "bother to join"
or compete online in league form, for CUP, CTS, BGN, these include BR tracks
the addons from papy...  (all original tracks too, dont foget).

2, Tracks_PTA for All road courses plus a copy of orignal RC's (dont forget
the papy original & addon tracks in here),

3, Tracks_IROC those few PWF Iroc cars's tracks only...  Not sure about
bothering about this as of yet...  But these DO NOT EXIST IN MY main folder,
I never have seen anyone race these yet online, so I saved some space on my
"all tracks list" heheheee...

One more thing....
Oh, my NR2003 folder is over 7 gigs now (most because of the cars & truck
paints I downloaded). But since I have in some cases 3 copies of some
tracks, and 2 leagues I am required to save replays in, well for a week or
2...

I discovered that by using the Player Picker, the game wouldn't save my lap
records for each driver.  As a result, I went back to the stock game sounds for
both Cup and TA driving...

Actually you can supposedly do both of these things automatically
with, IIRC, D3PP  - something something player picker - ;).  I don't
remeber it because it stopped working for me a looong time ago, and
the attitude of the author on the website makes it clear there's no
point in asking for support.
You could actually do both of these things with batch files to launch
each mod, copying the appropriate files into place for you.  It would
require a little setup ahead of time, and you'd loose the ability to
switch mods in-game.  I might sit down over the easter break and
cobble something together.  If its fairly easy to implement I'll post
it here.

Hey O,

as far as Im concerned, the cars-trucks for Nascar, can (and on mine do)
share the same sound, after all the cars are revving differently on thier
respective tracks.  Using Cup (stock) sounds in PTA or TPTCC cause me to
over rev all the time, because the engine IMHO was not wound up enough, &
wasn't audibly through making power, until it sputtered off the rev limiter,
which causes me trouble (slow)...  There is one site that has a LOT of links
to neat stuff, I dont have the link here, but Try here. www.ncracer.com.  He
has links to most pages you'll need.

I was going to look for CTS & BGN sounds, but since I drive them on nearly
the same tracks, to me it helps that they sound the same (nearly) when you
get to the same places on the track, IMHO.  helps your "memory" of intuitive
driving.  Still for "realism" I bet they are slightly different.

&

Dave mentioned that TPTCC is not "outrightly" based on any series (gee just
loosly the TA?) , yet I dont think you wanna delete on the grounds that the
"series" is somewhat fictional, if I removed it, it would ONLY be because
TPTCC isn't complete yet, and has is missing damage-drawing and stuff.
