Some snippets of info I've seen...

A post by Tim Wheatley

Well what they did on our site is injected code (for a p*rn dialler and toolbar) into an inline frame on our mainpage. A member of forum staff in Australia then called someone in Denmark, who called our sysadmin and he called our host who then shut the server off until I could find out what it was, so we've decided to keep it off until Monday when out sysadmin gets back from holiday and he can update (I think it better than users don't have a load of ***installed on their PC). Until then I know little more than I've said... Though I would expect vbulletin.com to be back sooner than that and to have more info...
Anyway that's what happened with us...

10:41 < JGent> :) have the problems been fixed now O trollo O forum God :)
10:41 < Trollo> well im sick and they are working on it at work as we speak
10:42 < JGent> ah right, what was the problem if your allowed to tell me
10:42 < Trollo> JGent : i dont know at all all i heard is they are building a new server just for RSC.
10:42 < JGent> I think mathew Gold... something was looking for you trollo, he was a trackmaker for generally
10:43 < JGent> dunno if it was for anything important
10:43 < JGent> I bet the new server is UBER
10:43 < Trollo> okay JGent
10:43 < Trollo> it is uber
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hopefully they're back soon bigger and faster than ever :)

Atleast Tim got few days of rest from all the admin stuff, sometimes it seems RSC is he's fullday job, and Kim's and Mikkel's and Phil's and all the other admin's and mod's :)
And they do that without pay.......

Pitty they only give creditcards in Finland only to people who wouldn't really need "credit"cards... no possiblity of paypalling them a donation... :(

I am pleased to see that we have differences.  May we together become
greater than the sum of both of us.

It is amazing how =really= CENTRAL Race Sim Central has become! I'm having
trouble getting a copy of Jim Pearson's "Adelaide 2002 Sprint Circuit" in
the lite version, and without RSC it seems to be practically impossible to
get the word out, or get in contact with JP or anyone else on his team.
Sigh.

No kidding - so am I!
Let me be the first to start a wild rumor ;)...
Maybe they are upgrading the servers in preparation for a widely
anticipated release, hmmm?  GPL 65, anyone?
Don't really think that's it (what with all the forum changes lately),
but I hope I'm right...

I heard the egos of all the forum moderators finally reached critical
mass and caused the entire website to collapse inwards on itself in a
catastrophe of celestial proportions.

Last I saw Tim Wheatley he was muttering something about XXX toolbars
and black holes.  He seemed shell shocked.

I'd be surprised if that would put much strain on their servers.

See http://www.tptcc.com/board/viewforum.php?f=4 for updates on RSC.
It seems that they have to sort a security/attack issue with their
host.

It's a pretty big.
25megs for the whole thing (ok maybe not that big for cable users but
big enough). Although it will probably also be available in user
friendly segments too with the minimum starter pack being 4megs
(physics, no sounds, no layouts, no gfx but playable with '67 cars).

Hopefully gpl65 won't cause too much of a problem, remember GTR2002
nearly brought it's hosts to their knees the first few days but RSC
still just about handled it ;-)

You never realise how much you come to depend on something until it's
gone.

I'd be more than willing to host it as well, once I get some more drive
space...
