I see that the cars at Nascar Zone
(http://www.racesimcentral.net/) have been pulled because
of a controversy with IWCCCARS.  It says that IWCCCARS claims that dude
stole all their cars, but what's funny to me, I don't see any N3 cars posted
at IWCCCARS.  Whattup?

It wasn't the cars so much as the decals that were used on the cars. I guess
the IWCCCARS guys were upset that their decals were used on the cars then
posted without permission. That's my understanding of it anyway. I could be
wrong, it's happened before <G>

This drives me crazy.  A week and a half after N3's release,
NASCAR zone was the only site with an almost complete carset, and
IWCCCARS gets their panties in a wad because someone used their decals.
Please.  I know they got their feelings hurt because someone used
something they created without mentioning them.  To me, the decals are an
insignificant part of the car.
I thought we were a community looking to provide the best sim
racing experience possible.  If this is the way they want to be, I won't
go to their site or download their cars.

If this is truly the case, I gotta sympathize with IWCC.  If I spent a lot of
hours coming up with a bunch of new decals, only to find someone else has grabbed
them, used them on his cars, and then posted the whole thing as his without any
mention whatsoever of my involvement, I think my panties would be fairly bunched
up too.  Credit where credit is due, it's not too much to ask.

Well the thing i dont agree with is that nobody can really prove that IWCCCARS
made the decals.  Whats to say they didnt get them off various decal sheets
from an assortment of authors.  I mean yea you should say thats what you
did....but i dont think IWCCCARS has an exclusive right to complain.  Ive made
a couple cars for N3 myself to help fill out the field and only once did i have
to use decals from another car in N2/99 (does ANYONE have the Paychex decals on
a sheet?).  I havent posted them but ive been thinking about it.  Guess i
better find out damn quick who made those decals huh?  Seeing as how i dont
know...

Chris:

You'd also better clear that not only with IWCCCARS but:

1. Hilary and Bill
2. DOJ
3. Janet Reno
4. The Congress

What's the point? The car sets are free anyways! I understand a lot of
time comes from getting the decals (well, not that much if you have a
scanner or patience to look on the internet), but it also takes some
time to paint the cars USING decals. Also, nowhere do I see a link to dl
decals at the IWCC site. There's hardly a mention of N3 cars anyways
(aside from the fact that they are working on a car set). Believe me, I
have nothing against them, I have downloaded their car sets before, but
isn't this childish? I'm not a lawyer, and not sure about the copyright
rules, but come on... Get the set from one site or another, there's no
difference to me.

I still think IWCCCARS site is great! :)

Americans are so funny! Don't tell me they're going to sue? Who are
those people you mention up there? Sorry, I'm just a simplistic
Canadian.

IIRC, right under the main banner they made mention of "Thanks
to IWCCCARS" and one other site.  So they DID mention them.
BTW, I still think IWCCCARS makes the BEST real-life cars out
there.  Mike's Nascar World makes the best fantasy cars.
