Fellow Racers,

I have close to every race sim ever written but the one I always turn back
to is GPRIX MANAGER by WIZARD.

This game does not involve driving cars but managing a formula 1 team.

This is a very simple game, as it is a text based game but its concept is
unbelievable.

In short all you have to do is buy to drivers build two cars and try and win
the world championship. Sounds easy, just try it.

Gotta Agree with this.  I spend most of my lunch hours trying to get the
constructor's championship!  It's a great game that you can play on ANY
computer (although it does run a bit too quickly on a pentium...)

Indeed, it even runs fast enough on a Mac with SoftPC, on PowerMacs and
a SoftWindows it is a bit on the fast side though.
There are some improvements I would like to see though...
- Interactive driver creation (to stay up-to-date)
- Actual R&D budgeting on self-developed parts
- Firing drivers, eh eh ;-) (mid- season)
- The possibility to create own teams from scratch with a certain budget
- Possibly some sort of interactive negotiation of contracts (not just
the price, but driver status etc.)

Great game though... I got Lotus to be WChamps in 5 seasons...

Peace, JJ Palo

What kind of simulator is that ? Is it like F1GP or is it more the management
side of GP racing ?

I'm just inquiring to see what the average numbers of seasons
it takes to get wizard to win the both the Drivers and construstors
championship. (I've done it in 3 season).

I'm  currently contemplating purchasing the full version. Is it any
better and more importantly can you change the car that you start with.
since starting as wizard i find that in the first season I'm forced to
pay for 2 cars the "shit" that you start with and the "reasonable"
(silverton 1,Yamaha 1,Mitsubushi 1,Yamaha 1,and the Honda 1 engine)
which will see you into the top 12 teams. Also can you change your
starting drivers since as wizard (if my memory serves me right) you
start off with Johnny Herbert. A reasonable driver but if he qualifies
he tends to write the car off every other grand prix. of course i know
it would detract from the game if you could start off with a Genius driver.
but all i ask for is a good driver who is rated as either dodgy or steady.

And finally my only critism of the game is that the computer teams
seem to operate under different rules. For example in my last game Senna
was signed by Coloni. Fine but coloni 's highest finishing place was 15.
where as for me to sign him i must be in the top 4 teams. Once this
irregularity has been sorted out  Grand Prix Manager would be one of the
best motorsport related games availible.

I had a hard time finding it. So, to help others, it is now available
from my ftp site. The URL is

        ftp://issco_ftp.unige.ch/pub/gprix.zip

For those of you who don't know what a URL is, just do anonymous
ftp to
        issco_ftp.unige.ch

cd to the directory pub, set binary mode, and get gprix.zip

I bought the commercial version via an ad in Autosport classifieds...
What is the difference of the shareware version to the commercial one?
Are there going to be any upgrades (I recall my version is 2.0)?
