Wow!

I created a new email address with bigfoot. I left it for a week or so, and
didn't get any mail to it.

Today, I put that email address into OE, and posted to news, and within
minutes I got 6 virus emails!!

Is news soon to become unuseable for those who use their real email address?
Is there a way around this, other than using a bugus email in your news
reader?

Thanks.

Always been the same. Never use a legit email address or even one that has
'remove' or 'nospam' or something like that in cos they get round that too.
Having a message in your sig, like 'delete xxx for reply' might work. Try
it.

Only recently have I taken to not using a legit address.  Beforehand the
courtesy of offering my address in the unlikely event that anyone might want
to contact me (it has happenned) was not outweighed by the relatively small
amount of ***I received.

Not any more :(

Just in the last couple of days has the flood of fake MS patches and
undeliverable mails been reduced to a managable level.  I was getting
200-300 a day...

Oh well.

I suppose it's the same with a lot of things. A few arseholes mess it up for
everyone else.

Guys,

Back before there were even such things as web browsers, there were
newsgroups.  Back since 89 I have read FAQ and SUGGESTIONs and as far back
as I can remember, they been telling EVERYONE to "munge" your reply to
address, for newsgroups!  The baddies have been online since "online" went
well, ONLINE, for lack a better term...  <G>  Back in the BBS days, I know
dang well that you didn't ever post personal information, anywhere in
public, if you had a brain that is.  When I 1st got online, as it were in
89, via the my College's telnet accounts, I was advised by the computer
savvy back then, "Would you write your phone # in a truckstop's or public
bathroom!!???"   No, was my answer...  "WELL, why would you post your email
in here?"

You all should think about it like that...

Hi Richard:

This is the first post using my new email address.

It's annoying to have 30 messages a day telling me
how to enlarge my *** or make $50,000 in 3 months.
Now these are turning into 150K Microsoft Security
patches, and I've just given up.  They win.

Yes, but if it hadn't been for these spammers I would never had gotten
this great deal I've just got, don't know if you guys have gotten a
similar offer as they said they only contacted a select few, but it
involves some uncollected funds in a Nigerian bank, I really can't say
anymore about it yet, but I'm going to be stinky rich !!!

I won't forget you guys of course

Congratulations Goy!

I understand perhaps billions of dollars are tied up
in Nigerian banks, the many honest people who control
these different funds need only find an honest person
who wants a piece of the action.

When you cash in, people you have never heard of will
want to be your friend.  All I'm looking for is a ride
in your Ferrari.

You're welcome to a ride of course, but it will have to be in the HSV
Commodore I'm ordering.....
