Mac finally joins the rest of the world

After a long wait, and much anticipation, we crazed Mac owners can finally
join the rest of the world roaring around Michigan, Nazareth, Surfer's
Paradise et al.  I got my copy of ICR2 today, at the local E.Boutique, as
the clerk was unpacking them from the shipping box.
I've been cruising this news group for about a year, and it's been a
regular stop eversince Rick Genter posted ICR2 would be released in a Mac
version.  For the past few months I've sated myself reading people's
questions and descriptions about the sim, and checking out the occasional
web page for screen shots.
But now I've finally got my own version, and all I can say is "Wow!"
Everything I've been reading about for so long is there, and more.  You
can bet I'll be heading down to my local computer store pretty quick to
pick up a mic to take advantage of that voice recognition for pit stops.
Oh sure, my first few laps have been far from record breakers, bumping
into walls and rolling over infields, but this is one learning curve I
will savor every step of the way.  And I haven't even yet begun to think
of set ups and custom paint jobs.
A question; the box includes a flyer from Thrustmaster for their T2 wheel,
stating it's now available for Mac; I've e-mailed them previously but
received no reply, and there's nothing new on their web site, so does
anybody out there know if this is the case?
Thanks to the people at Papyrus for finally recognizing us Mac monkeys and
giving us some welcome relief from the endless array of shoot-em-up games
on the shelves of the software stores.
And now to racing,

Well you must have a very high end mac. The performance of ICRII on my
Pmac 7200/90 256k L2 (a low endish mac I guess) it very poor. I will stick
with the DOS version of ICRII on my wintel (YUCK) box at work.

Here is the response I received from thrustmaster:

:We are working on a T2 for the Macintosh. It should be available mid-July to
:early-August.
:Initially it will be available directly from ThrustMaster for $149.95.
:We won't start taking orders until mid to late July.
:Thanks
:<name removed to protect the innocent from uneeded flamage if the release
date :slips>
:ThrustMaster, Inc.

Although I am not pleased with the speed, I guess it is better than nothing.

Thanks for the info from Thrustmaster.  I'll have to let my Visa card cool
out for a few weeks.

I'm also running ICR2 on a 7200/90, 256k L2, 32 megs RAM, and while I have
nothing to compare the performance to, it seems to run pretty smoothly
with all the detail on when in the low-res screen, which makes the picture
about half the size of my monitor.  I don't know if this is a question of
needing more L2 cache, more VRAM, or a faster processor.  I have access to
a new 7200/120 at work and I may load it up there to compare performance.

Also, I'd add that the sound--anywhere from Paul Page's intro to the
engine revving--sounds so...muted.   Am I the only one to notice?
