Hey! It's almost GPL's Birthday!

Wasn't it two years ago April they released the Watkins Glen demo and blew
so many of us away?  Remember how psychotic that Lotus default setup was?
Aw man, I'm getting all misty here.

Let's see, figuring a VERY conservative hour a day driving, I've spent an
entire month of my life happily motoring and crashing away.

Everybody at Papy -- and all who've contributed since -- what a remarkable
achievement!  Thanks once again.

Regards, all

Kurt

P.S. Maybe this will shift this newsgroup's attention back where it should
be.  I'm getting sick of reading about F12000.  ;-)

Arg.  Happy Birthday GPL?  Call me a party pooper, but do we really need to
mark the anniversary of software releases?  I don't call up the coders of my
finite-element software every year to tell them how brilliant their work is,
and how it makes my life that much easier (and it really is a stellar piece
of code).

I just hope you guys at least don't forget your girlfriend's / wife's /
dog's birthday.  Hopefully they weren't born in April, or they will have to
get in line.

Stephen

Jeez, Stephen.  I'm not going to bake GPL a cake or anything. ;-)  I guess
my post was an attempt to communicate two things:  my amazement that
ANYTHING, especially a computer "game," could keep my attention and devotion
for that long; and an affectionate recollection of how challenging and
awesome GPL was at my first experience of it.  I'm a right-brained
touchy-feely type.

As an additional thought, since David Karr's thread on GPL's *** of
RAS appeared at approximately the same time:  My appreciation for GPL is in
no way intended to diminish anyone else's appreciation for their sim or game
of choice.  Y'all keep on driving and enjoying whatever does it for you.
For me, though, GPL is just about all there is.

Regards,

Kurt

Everybody:

Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday dear GPL,
Happy birthday to you!

For he's a jolly good si-him,
For he's a jolly good si-him.
For he's a jolly good si-hi-hiiiimm...
And so say all of us!

OK, OK, OK.  I'll just go sit in the corner and mind my own business.  :-)

No, but your code probably hasn't given as much enjoyment for 2 years either.
:-)

To honor the aniversary we all should install GPL 1.00000 and drive a parade
around the ring on VROC ;-)
