OK Dave, try this.

I assume that you have unzipped it into some directory, and that you
know that it is a DOS program.

Change to that directory and type "Fastvid" (without the quotation
marks)
You will be asked if you want to enable several features including write
posting, linear frame buffering, etc. Answer "yes" to these, except the
question about the "patch". Answer "no" to this until you try the
program.
After you have answered the questions, the program will give you some
settings (eg. fastvid 111 2 fd000000) - copy them down.
You have now enabled fastvid and should see an impressive improvement in
some DOS games.
BUT, when you re-boot, these settings will be lost, and you will have to
go through this again.
TO AVOID this:
If you boot directly to DOS then load a game:
Place the directory in your path statement(eg.
Path=C:\fastvid;C:\Windows;etc.) in your autoexec.bat foloowed by a line
containing the "Fastvid 111 2 etc" that you copied.
If you have WIN95 and shortcuts to DOS sessions, put the path statement
and the Fastvid line in the Shortcut's autoexec.bat, now each time you
play that game, its own config.sys and autoexec.bat with fastvid will
load.

Good Luck,
