WAHOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, and I do love Powerslide. I think 'Dirt Track Racing'
may be the sleeper racing hit of the year!

This makes me drool:
http://www.racesimcentral.net/

BTW, if you haven't tried it, Powerslide's force feedback
is excellent, and I suspect that Dirt Track Racing's will be
the same way. This is very good news for those of us that
love dirt tracks.

I'm pretty e***d. Thanks.

At first, I wasn't impressed with the storyline/theme in this game but I've
gotten hooked. I agree the graphics are great and it has amazing fps.

I too am eagerly awaiting for Dirt Track Racing !!!!!!!!!!

Yes, Powerslide is a very good game witch people dont talk much about here.
The other tracks in the fullversion is also very good. I love the Speedway
track and Devils Elbow.

The only thing that annoys me in PS, is that auto recover thing. It makes me
almost seasick when you don`t roll but bobs around until you final lands on
the wheels.

Thanks for the heads-up, John!

Somehow I had managed to completely ignore Powerslide.  I guess it was

MotoWhatever"-type games that get bundled in with 3d cards.  All candy,
no substance.

While I haven't played the demo enough to really decide how good the
substance is, the candy is out of this world!  It's like driving 'Sega
Rally' though a Quake II map.  Stunningly beautiful, and the fluid, high
frame rate, coupled with some reasonably good physics makes it a blast to
drive.  While the physics may be somewhat exaggerated, they still seem
quite 'real' once taken on their own terms.  It's kinda like Wipeout XL
(PSX) in that sense - a very fluid simulation of something that's doesn't
quite exist.

After playing the demo for 5 minutes, I immediately went over to
gtstore.com and purchased a copy for $19.95.  At that price, how can you
go wrong?!?  (Well, you *could* buy Nascar Revolution, I suppose...)

Thanks again - and everybody else, GO CHECK THIS THING OUT!

overlook.

The candy IS great, and after playing with it for several days, I think the
physics are dead-on -- it's the horsepower that's exaggerated, I believe.  I
had a controller problem early on -- the game had trouble recognizing all
the axes properly with my ACT Labs RS/PDPI combo in dual axis mode, so for a
while, I was playing with only half-throttle available.  I played around
that way for a while, and I found that with less available power underfoot,
the responses seemed VERY realistic, so I really can't wait for their "Dirt
Track Racing" title!

I'll be ordering my copy tomorrow (their toll-free number says call during
the week, and I'd rather do it that way than order on-line).  I haven't
tried NASCAR Revolution, but if you like bumpin' and grindin' and slippin'
and slidin', then PowerSlide should be on your must-have list.

FWIW, I got in some on-line play with PowerSlide last night via Kali -- with
me and 4 other players in IP mode, there was NO lag whatsoever.  Frame rates
were as smooth as they are when playing off-line.  This game engine shows a
TON of promise.  Papy had better be paying attention once Dirt Track Racing
comes out, methinks, lest they lose their crown.

Listen to the man! <G>

Since I bought GPL, Powerslide is the only other driving sim that has
found a place on my hard drive.  Works well in multiplayer too.

Let alone the racing (which is very impressive), I jumped up on that
broken overhead rail, hopped over the missing section and found myself
eventually in a room with closed doors on the other end.  Got the creeps
just like playing Unreal.  Anybody have any "adventures" in the full
retail version?

You can actually get yourself into the holes at the top of the dam, also.

"The Difference Engine"? Heh, Gibson fans at RatBag perhaps? If so, the game
has to be good. Well, I'm outta here to have a look for myself. See y'all in a

Somehow I can't see a big pile of brass tumblers turning out the
framerate that RatBag has managed... perhaps things have progressed since
the Victorian era.

Imagine if they were Douglas Adams fans.  We'd have games powered by the
Infinite Improbability Engine.  Of course, given the quaility of some of
the "sims" out there, maybe we already do.

FYI, weeks are short this time of year. I'm back, and I'm gonna buy PowerSlide
once budget allows it. It's FUN!

Just a few qustions that I've found myself asking

- It is my impression that the game/sim is realistic in the sense that full
throttle isn't always the best. Taking it a bit slower and not sliding all
over the place looks faster, but I don't see it reflect in my fastest laps.
What is everyone elses experience?

- Auto vs. manual gearbox. I (shame on me) find myself enjoying the game more
with auto so far. How much do you loose using auto? It looks like you never
hit 1st gear this way, that oughta be noticeable... I'm gonna try it out a bit
later. Again, what's everyones view?

- How the hell did they do it? Runs SOOOOO smoothly on my lowly P166 (aided by
a V2, of course). OK, no "17 parts with 6DOF" like in GPL but still... I'm not
ashamed to admit that it WOW!ed me. First game for quite some time that I
didn't have to turn down the detail levels in.

Cheers,
