I visited the website. Where are the screenshots??? Kind of odd for a
game being released at the end of May to not have any screenshots up on
the company's site. And it says, screenshots coming in
January...........Hmmmmm.....

Kyle, we have been working with Tantrum for awhile on "NHRA" and I must
say that I am not impressed with their methods of doing business :( for
one thing we designed and built 4 special TSWs with Butterfly dragster
wheels especially for them, we took time out from regular production to
do this.

In return we have been given a poor example of "NHRA" which evidently
was something used to demonstrate camera angles or some such :( it has
no in car way to drive the cars or much else for that matter.

Tantrum is very uncommunicative(sp?) and very hard to deal with, thier
typical email response to a 1/2 page is a single line and then not
addressing the question at all.

The "sim" from what we have shows a lot of promise, the sound for one
thing is just like the real cars, the graphics are also good but until I
see a full version I cannot comment on the driving model.

They have been promising us a full beta CD for the last 3 weeks now and
if we ever do get it, I will post my impressions here.

Bethesdas "Burnout" is not too bad a game but sadly lacking in realism,
the ridiculous speeds and times I see posted seem to have no basis in
reality. I do have the demo though and the game shows promise if things
get fixed as Brent Erickson of BS has promised, we'll be doing beta on
this one also so we shall see.

The sim has been optimized for the Riva chipset, and I've
been told that the delay is due to the implementation of
the 3Dfx stuff.

BTW, you're right about the sound - So real it'll knock your
fillings loose!  =)

Cheers!

Marc

<snip>

Same situation for me.  Very frustrating, to say the least.
Hopefully, when the "sim" is finally released, they will be more
helpful with the inevitable problems that always seem to appear with a
new release.

I like the sound of that.  Having good sound and graphics is a "must"
when your race only lasts for 4-5 seconds.

Trev, I look forward to hearing your impressions of Burnout, when you
get around to the beta.  I have the demo, too, but can't get much from
it when limited to driving one car using keyboard controls.  And
thanks for your input on this subject; I found out what I needed to
hear about NHRA... for now.

Those are software renderings, not actual in-game screenshots.

Fellas, these are the "software renderings-screen shots in January" that
have been on the site since day one.  Nothing new.  I with Tantrum
well-there is room for more drag sims, but this deal looks kinda fuzzy at
this point.
