I would have laughed my ass off for a lot longer than that if i wasn't
quite sad cause as far as i can see this means the definate end of WSC
and i have serious doubts WRL will ever see the light of day...
The west bros were born with a liking for the right type of sim...a
gift to programm a sim like that...but such a complete lack of being
in touch with the 'real' world, meaning actually getting a game into
the shops..i doubt anything they programm will ever see the light of
day.

It is amazing how this announcement has stirred such extremes.

I would have described it to the closest we have got to some _serious_
considerations of getting an enthusiast group together (such as ras) to
fund a *** simulator, as there was no other likely way of it
happening.

The "real world" prevents Papyrus from producing another title of
milestone proportion like GPL. It would also appear to have prevented
WSC. Breaking away from the traditional developer/publisher environment
seems the only route to creating a genuine leap forward for us
"***" guys.

I would suggest ras is closest to influencing the Wests project than any
other professional development.

I would also have thought ras as a collective group would be welcoming
the chance to be involved with this project and support the Wests. They
have a lot more to lose than we do.

I hope those dismissing this as a joke find themselves on a banned list
come purchase time.

I'm mot dismissing it as a joke.
I just have serious doubts about this...
The cost of developing a sim is tremendous...that is if you want to
have normal developing time...
There's no way 2 guys can do that in a "short" period.....which along
with finding a publisher has probably killed WSC..if you go to slow
you'll always be way behind the 'cutting' edge of technology...and
that cutting is edge is what the *** industry runs on...freaking
eye candy...it won't work if you work yer ass off for a year creating
256 colour bitmaps only to have 16bit and larger formats come along so
you have to redo the entire thing.
You need a good team...which costs loads of cash..
And a 'sponsor' won't cut it in my opinion.
I've seen all the WSC clips...drooled over them..the same with
WRL...the concept is great but if it actually has chance..i don't
think so.
The W bros should find themselves a good developer to work at...like
papyrus..so their work actually gets out to us.
D.K might be stuck at doing nothing but nascar games right now but i'm
sure he'll manage to squeeze out something else in the future..
Anyways...i do hope they get this thing off the ground and on the
shelves..

You clearly dont understand the conecpt at all. This title will never BE in
any shop.

Consider X-Plane.  One man, 10,000 users, 1200 3rd party addons.

This business model works -it's proven to do so - and I look forward to you
swallowing your words in a few months time

Xplane is a serious flight sim very similar in concept to RL ..and thats
done by one guy...why wouldnt 2 guys be better?

Yes...

I knew when i wrote just 'shop' i should have said "shop"
instead...ggg:)
X-plane has been going now for how many years?...10?
And it's still a far cry from perfect...i have a few of friends who
fly big birds in real life and none of them consider X-plane to be
very good...
AeroWinx  747-400 Precision Simulator is an example though that it can
be done, as far as flightmodel and systems are concerned..the gfx
engine is in principle non existant so he can focus on what really
matters. I think that's from one guy aswell..or at least used to be
one guy if i'm not mistaken, ...and it does cost a fortune.

I know the concept can work...
But after seeing how things went with WSC i just have some severe
doubts the west guys are capable of the same thing..
And by the way...i'll be just as happy as you when i'll have to
swallow my words, in a few months time no less.

That was a legal issue as they wanted to do this with the backing of a
publisher.  THey are now going alone - without a publisher. They have 100%
control over the project themselves.

But this is WSC, it's about a year since things went wrong with Empire
there's no way they could've started from scratch to release it "later this
year".

Another clue is that on their *** that were running WSC while the were
starting the Racing Legends stuff, so they did still have the code even
after they had parted with Empire.

Well said, Tony. I hope the Wests will succeed and ignore the cheap posters
in this group.

Indeed. Why stop at banning us from purchasing the game ? Hell, why not get a law passed
that will permit the government to completely strip away are civil liberties. Then we
should be put in the Tower of London as an example to any other misguided individuals that
may be contemplating posting any kind of doubtful remarks that concern computer games that
haven't been made yet.

Well said, Tony. What a guy.

Nah - more like

Welcome to the West's online purchasing store.
Unfortunately you appear to have stumbled across the unwarranted extravagancy
items page
Please wait whilst you are automatically redirected to your preferred "Just
Another Computer Game" Store...

Obviously all remarks from me are obsessive, serious & humourless cos that is
what "people like us" are like - thanks for pointing it out.

S'alright. I'm glad I could actually make you see the funny side for once ;-)
At least it proves me wrong that "people like you" are not humourless.

"redTed"

Make me? Nobody makes me do anything.

Apart from the wife of course, but that's not the point. Oh yeah, and the boss.
The kids as well I suppose. John Simmons too - but everybody does what he says,
so that doesn't count. I'm a law abiding soul so I would have to add the
government, local councillors and the law enforcement services too. But apart
from that (and probably a few others) I make my own mind up, ok?
