: I've read that the closer the driver performance numbers in the
: drivers2.txt files, the more consistent the driver will be. Ok, to me
: this implies that
: the eight numbers are actually pairs representing four driver
: characteristics.
: Is this correct?
: If this is right, what are these characteristics and what order are
: they in?
First take a look in the drivers.txt file where you will find comments
on the numbers in the REM lines.
Second here is a copy of an old post to r.a.s.:
The numbers stand for:
Car Number..Chassis..Tyres..Power..Traction..Drag...Aggression
The Power rating dictates acceleration; Traction governs cornering
speed; Agression indicates how ealily the driver will move over when
challenged and Drag dictates wind resistance and straightaway speed.
The base line for these ratings is 500 and that value is adjusted up
or down to reflect relative ratings for each driver.
Higher ratings for Power, Traction and Drag indicates higher
performance. The opposite for Drag. The game randomly selects a
number within each range, generating a different number of each
session. The wider the range, the less consistent that car will be.

Hope that explains it.
