Or Camaro's Unlimited... I have very fond memories of the one time I drove a
1971 "Killer" Camaro. One of those cars that screams "Don't mess with me!"
;-)

Big oops!  Stephen's right!  I guess I was so pissed off about
being shunted out of the lead (resulting in a massive crash) that I
completely overlooked it.

One curious note: I've progressed to the mid-70s but the
Spyder has yet to appreciate in value.  Meanwhile one of my Super
Speedsters is going for nearly $70K.  Poor market for Porsche race
cars?

Oh well, back to morbidly pretending that I'm James Dean...

No matter how good it looks i just can't imagine any NFS game being
realistic enough to satisfy any true "sim" fan, the NFS series have
always been targeted more to kids and those types who enjoy arcade
style easy to play race games,

The full version of NFS Porsche is out on Warez now, but i'm not going
to waste my time d/ling it, i'll wait for the smaller demo and give it
a shot when it comes out, but if it's anything like all the previous
NFS titles it'll probably have the same lifespan on my hard-drive,
which is about 5 minutes! ;-)

I won the Spyder in that shoot out.  But the car handles like ***
anyway.  Nothing like driving the GT1.  BTW, I completed the Factory
Driver portion of the game all the way up to Ace Test Driver.  Pretty
cool...

Ah, yes -- that would be cool!  They could bring us various RS and SS
models, Z-28s, several Indy Pace Cars, a couple of Trans-Am models
(maybe even a Penske "ultralight"), and maybe even a couple of Woodward
Avenue dragstrip events! <G>

>Well, it's here .. :)

Oh man I am pumped now, let me tell you! I trust your judgement, I
know you have high standards regardless of whether it's a sim or
arcade game. Sounds like this one hits that magical balance in between
the two.

EB has it listed coming out on the 25th (Saturday) which means it
should be out here in Vancouver on Monday. I can't wait!

Make sure you make a printout of this post, because when you eat your
words, it will be much more satisfying if you get a little pulp and
fiber with it . . .

Say the abbreviation NFS:PU out loud.  An unfortunate choice for a game that
sounds like it certainly doesn't stink.  Sort of like when the MR2 came out,
and the french kept talking about the little car called "shit"
(Emm-Ayrr-Deux  -  merde).

My vote is for NFS: Chevettes unlimited.  Follow the full evolution of the
Chevette, from its humble beginnings as a 1.6L OHV, rear-drive, live axle
econobox to its final incarnation, nearly 15 years later, as a... 1.6L OHV,
rear-drive, live-axle econobox.  Heh heh heh.  NFS: Pintos Unleashed.  NFS:
Trabant Tradition.  NFS: Kadett Klasse.  NFS: Manta Mania.  NFS: Corolla
Celebration.  The possibilities are endless.

Maybe someone could create the old Porsche F1 car (Gurney's car), and then
EA could just tweak their nice new physics model a little more to make it
have, oh, about 20 DOF.  Then they could get it running at 288Hz, throw in a
nice 14 mile track in the German forests and.... oh... we've got that
already  :-)

Seriously, I'm looking forward to NFS:PU, and will probably shelve GPL for
quite a while as I work my way through the career mode.  1967 GP cars are
fine and dandy, and Papyrus's slippery slidy physics model talks to the
engineer in me, but I grew up ogling Porsches, ever since a neighbour showed
up with "that funny Beetle" (it was a 356 in perfect condition).  With NFS's
graphical splendour, what sounds like a decent driving feel, and the
Porsches?  Man, when do we get it in Switzerland.

Shame about the 550.  Is it not possible to save the career mode just before
the all-important race and try many times?  Everyone should get a chance to
be James Dean.
