N2: Whew Doggies!

I posted on this r.a.s. last week asking for input about my machine's
capability to handle N2 (had N1 on it for over a year).  Well, on you
all's word I done took the plunge and picked up N2. All's I ken sez is
"wheeww doggies... if'n this ain't fun I dunno' what is!"  Yep.  It be
lookin better'n Dolly Parton in a wet T-shirt, and more fun then a
wild goat ropin'. Anyways... I got a few questions for all you learned
ones:

*Someone said there's a "fix" for the Atlanta pit bug... where/how?
*Will a Screamin'3D *really* improve the frame rate? (My machine is a
PB w/P75,4xCD,16MegRAM,SVGA,etc... in all, about a year and half old.)
*Where's a good sight to get some '97 (or accurate '96) carsets?

That's it for the N2 questions for now. Since we're at it, here's a
question about ICR2:

Last year I downloaded a 96PPG carset for same, and though I can see
the carset in the game option menu, when I try to load the cars to run,
I get an "Invalid Carset" reading.  I can exit and contine playing,
but just curious as to what I did wrong.  Incidently, I've installed
ICR2 through DOS, and run through DOS.  However, I downloaded the cars
through Windows 3.11 off the internet at Mike Carver's page (I think).
Anyway, anybody got any ideas as to what's wrong?

Thanks for any help!  The Oklahoma Kid (In my 2nd or 3rd childhood
actually...)

About the 3D video card, I tried to get a Screaming 3D card for 4 weeks,
but they were on backorder.  I finally gave up and ordered a Intense 3D
card.  It is also a Rendition card and is about 30 bucks cheaper.  I have
a pentium 100 and it has made a big difference in the frame rates.  I can
run all graphics and cars without even a little bit of frame jump.  The
graphics have a much more realistic look as well as the cars.  I think a
good card would help you allot.

In the Tracks\Atlanta directory edit the atlanta.txt file.  Either REM
out or delete the following lines at the end of the file:

PCARL 5 0
PTICK 30 0
PBRKS 60 50

Should indeed.  However, make sure you can return it it if you are not
satisfied.  Most PB'ers have gotten their Screamin' or Intense 3d cards
to work with great success.

Before you look anywhere else check out IWCCCARS:

Shouldn't be any trouble that I am aware of.  Just make sure that your
directory name matches the file name of the carset (ppg96.dat) without
the extension and that you have the drivers.txt and drivers2.txt file in
the directory.  I've used that rather excellent carset in the Rendition
version ICR2 for some time without any problems.  However, you should be
picking up some of the 1997 cars at
http://www.teleport.com/~mcarver/ppg97.htm
