This time I manged to qualify 2nd, which is a career best for me, the other two
races I started both 3rd. I got an okay start, but the guy in pole must have
done something right as he nudged ahead and was clearly in front at the first
turn. I was busy keeping 3rd at bay right now, so I let him go. Over the next
few laps, I was gaining on 1st but 3rd was giving me a hard time. I felt
comfortable with this situation until I made a stupid mistake through the esses
and got side ways. I had no momentum thru the fast left hander onto the S/F
straight and I was down to 3rd :(
But I fought back, and a series of quick laps gave me a good run at 2nd into
Turn two, a long 2nd gear left hander. I dived down the inside got it all
crossed up, but pulled it off. Until about lap 10 (of 15) when I repeated my
earlier mistake and again had to let 2nd go. I tried, I really tried & tried to
get back up but my attempt to repeat the manouver into T2 failed and I had to
settle for 3rd... but I got fastest lap! :o)
My confidence is really building now, and if I work my ass off, I can make
enough 's for the next race (round 3 of 6) and hopefully win!!
I'll post my championship position as soon as...
