Further to my previous post regarding problems with the
Thrustmaster GP1 wheel and GP2, is it better to run GP2
thru DOS or Win95?

Thanks

GP2 doesn't need W95. W95 is just another shell that emulates DOS if you
run a dos-game. You do not benefit from W95 (GP2 does not use
W95-features like Direct-X, 32-bit etc), it only costs processor-time.
I think you should make a dos-bootdisk. Then BACK-UP your autoexec.bat
and
config.sys. Then you can run the soundcard-setup and CD-rom setup for DOS.
Copy the autoexec.bat and config.sys-files to your bootdisk. Finally,
restore the old (W95) autoexec.bat and config.sys.

If you boot your computer with the Dos-bootdisk in the drive, you'll be
sure you'll only load the drivers you need. The game should run better
then.

GP2 - better thru DOS?

It runs much better from DOS and you dont have the hassles of trying
to configure stuff from within Win95.

But not a DOS window.....eh. Im talking from pure DOS.

And to get that from within Windows, do this :

1) For a link on your desktop :
   - Open Windows Explorer (not maximized).
   - Drag GP2.EXE to the desktop.
     This will create a link/shortcut to GP2.
   - Close Explorer again.
   - Right-click on the link/shortcut, and select properties.
2) To get GP2 in the start menu :
   - Open Windows Explorer.
   - Drag (with right button) GP2.EXE to the folder you want under
     C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs. Select to create a link/
shortcut in the popup menu that pops up on button release.
   - Go to the folder you put the link in, right-click on the
     link, and select properties.

- Select the Program-tab.
- Check the checkbox that says something like 'Close window at exit'
(I'm using the Dutch version, so I have to imagin what the English
version says, but since there's only one checkbox here..).
- Select the advanced-button.
- Check the box 'MSDOS mode'.
- Uncheck the box 'warn before entering MSDOS mode'.
- Select 'Use current MSDOS configuration'.
- Click all OK-buttons.
- If still open, close Explorer.

When you now start GP2, Windows will shut itself down, leaving the
complete box for GP2. After exiting GP2, Windows will restart itself.

BTW: If you create both links, you need to make the adjustments to
     both.
