GPL: Fixing "number of turns" in converted tracks

by J. P. Hovercraf » Wed, 07 Jun 2000 04:00:00

Hi all,

Just in case you didn't notice, some of the converted tracks show the
incorrect number of turns (usually 4) in the "program" pages. To fix
this, use a text editor like Notepad to edit the "track.ini" file in
each track folder. Near the top, you'll see a line that looks like this:

track_num_turns = 4

Just change the number to the correct one and it'll show up in the
programs.

If this is old news, please ignore it. I've just never seen it mentioned
here.

Cheers,

Thanks for the info J.P.

If it has been mentioned here in the forum before I must have missed it
too. I wrongly thought it would be some convoluted fix, not the simple
one you have found.

Hey, here's a thought! Maybe we can make the Ring easier to master if we
just change the number of turns to read something less intimidating,
like 6!

Ah, well. No, I've never seen it mentioned before. I never did because I
didn't realize that people didn't know the fix was as simple is editing a
plain text file.

It's a  pain in the butt, you have to look up the correct numbers to put in,
but it is really simple.

By the way, if your track record gets corrupted for any reason, say an
online warp lap, you can edit it just as simply.
