Not too happy about 2.5" ride geight in GPL....

Hi Michael,
You're probably right ... I find myself going quicker with a 2.5" setup than
with the 1.5" -2" setup that I had before. Though, I still see no reason why I
would want to go any higher ... which was my original point. With GPL 1.1
everyone will be a "low-rider". ie I'm guessing that most people will not go
any higher than 2.5" and hence they are riding as low as possible. I actually
like the fact with GPL 1.0 that my setups were "taller" than other peoples. I
don't think that there will be very many taller setups with 1.1. OK, I know
Alison made some fine tall setups for Ferrari but I would still say that she
would make them a little bit lower if she wanted to find the right combination
of "stability" and speed instead of just stability.

Again, I don't have a problem with setting up "tall" cars ... it's just that
GPL 1.1 has cut off a lot of options with seting up the height ... I don't
think that I should be told (by the game) that I "cannot" have a low car . It
should punish me by making it really bad handling but not limit me this way.

Regards,
David Mocnay

Hi Tim,
I see that you're at the 1.5" ride height (1/2 in more at most from these
figures).  I find myself always coming down to the 2.5" and 2.75" front/back
in Honda. Even at Mosport. The car doesn't bottom out and as far as I can tell
I'm not hitting the bump stops ... check out the setup I sent you earlier
today. I did a 1.23.5  (my PB in  a Honda) and I can still see a good 1/2 sec
of improvement if I can pull off a "clean" lap doing exactly what I'm doing
now.

I'll try and experiment with an even taller setup but so far I haven't
noticed any benefits. It just annoys me that with 1.1 I'm a lowrider but with
1.0 I wasn't :-( I'd like to find a reason (or someone give me one) for going
above 2.5" ride height. I don't know why "they" just couldn't make the car
handle worse when you get low with the ride-height.

David Mocnay

>David,

>Just to let you know, here are my ride heights used now: (all honda)
>Spa - 2.5/2.5 - 3:18 PB - 3:19 race pace
>Monza - 2.5/2.75 - 1:29 PB - 1:29 rp
>Zandvoort - 2.75/2.75 - 1:25 PB - 1:26(low) rp
>Mosport - 2.75/3.0 - 1:23(low) PB - 1:24 rp
>Brands Hatch - 3.0/3.0 - 1:36 PB - 1:37 rp

>I haven't really tested anywhere else yet.

way.

You aren't.  The game is now saying that the cars suspension geometry can
not handle anything lower than 2.5", and so therefore you are stuck at a
min. height of 2.5".  This has been talked about before.
