N4 on Ice!

Hi all,
Love this ng for all the help I've received over the years.  Recently
bought N4 and love the graphics but can't believe how bad I am doing in it
after all the sim racing I've done.  It feels like I am driving on ice, as I
can overspin the tires in almost every gear.  I realize the physics model is
completely new but can anyone point me in the right direction for tweaking
my setups for a more stable ride?  I usually use the Ace setup as a baseline
and go from there but they seem twitchy at most tracks.  As a result I have
spent more time on N3 online so as not to get in anyone's way and wreck
them.  I am a very clean driver but I can barely control the car let alone
race anyone with it.  Much obliged for any advice!

Get GPL, after a few hours with it N4 will seem more stable :).
Seriously, play with your wheel lock and linearity, those settings can make
a big difference on the twitchiness of your car. There's some good tips in
the manual as well. For a really indepth look at setting up a car, check out
the N4 chassis setup guide at www.sascar.com.
I typically start with weight bias, cross weight, and track bar adjustments
to get it more stable.

Some people do nothing wrong.
The problem is, they do nothing.
And THAT is wrong.

Using the FAST(Ace) setups in N4, until you get used to it...lower the
REAR
trackbar one click on each side...that will tighten up the car somewhat and
get rid
of the 'sliding' rear end..have fun

I have found that working the shocks has provided most of the
improvement to the handling of the car.  My car was snapping the back
end out as soon as I touched the brakes . . . that was from a
combination of the compression on the fronts and rebound on the rears
eing to low (allowing the weight to transfer too rapidly)

Also, I found a couple of setups with the wedge set at -100 lbs . . .
I don't know where the hell that came from but try driving THAT
sometime!

BTW, I found some really good shock information at

That came from N2/99/3
Tracks like Phoenix, NH you'd see 0 shocks in the rear and 120-150 - wedge
On dega we used 200+ wedge
